Having trouble controlling the distance your putts travel? The most important element of putting is being able to control distance. Why? Because “Distance Controls Direction.” A putt that travels beyond the hole will curve less, while a putt that is barely making it to the hole will curve much more. That’s why you should seek to Read more…
Start with your practice sessions with your pitching wedge and move through your bag of clubs mastering each one as you go. Avoid using a longer and more difficult club until you are consistently and confidently hitting the shorter ones. Many golfers would be better to avoid the driver for at least the first 18 months of playing!
Most golf equipment companies make three styles of putters — standard, belly putter and the long putter. The putter’s length is important; it affects the distance and directional control of the ball, according to Ralph Maltby, golf equipment expert. To help select the correct length, retailers provide sizing guidelines that match your height to a putter length. These are, however, just guidelines and a good place to start. Although your height is a key factor, your stance, posture and anchor point — with belly or long putters — should also be considered.
A complete set of golf clubs contains a maximum of 14 clubs, consisting of a driver, fairway woods, irons, hybrid clubs, wedges, sand wedge and a putter. Below I have shared some useful information on what to look for in each type of club.

To keep me from being overwhelmed, she advised me to fix my swing in chunks, starting with posture.  To help me improve, she recommended that I increase my hamstring flexibility.  So as part of my daily fitness routine, I began using an elastic stretch band to pull my legs straight back towards my chest while lying on my back.  As for my takeaway, my instructor suggested an often-prescribed drill of placing a golf ball six inches behind my club and brushing it straight back when initiating my backswing.
No, Henrik Stenson isn’t playing peekaboo above. Many Tour players use their hands and cap to see a putt’s true slope; it helps give them a clear, clutter-free view of the line. For best results, drop the brim of your cap or your fingers to the back edge of the cup, to block your view of the green beyond the hole. Ignore anything past the cup. Often, the green’s apron or the lips of nearby bunkers will tilt in a different direction than the ground you stand on. Don’t let this “noise” distract you from your read.
The Cadet-Master’s program is designed specifically for more experienced junior golfers who are ready to be playing on the course and possibly looking forward to competing in competive golf tournaments. While this should be consistent across the holes during your round, you should be aware that putters handle differently depending on temperature. Putters are usually more overstable with less glide in cold weather so you may want to land your approach shots in different areas.
When most beginner golfers first start learning how to swing a golf club, they do what feels right and don’t know to focus on developing a stroke that follows a proper swing plane. However, staying on the swing plane is essential to maintain a solid and consistent golf stroke, so it’s important to teach the concept of the swing plane to beginners right away. In this lesson, we teach you a simple beginner golf swing drill you can utilize to ensure your swing follows the proper path away from and through the ball, each and every time.
1) Setup And Alignment: With the logo on your golf ball aligned at the proper aiming point, it should be easy to set the putterface to this line. Often, it’s helpful to have a putter with lines or marks to help visualize the alignment. Make sure your arms are hanging freely, that your eyes are over or slightly inside the ball/target line and, most importantly, that your shoulders are square to the target. I use a small mirror to check my alignment and eye position.
Four or more players use two standard 52-card decks plus 2 or 4 Jokers . Each player is dealt 6 cards face down from the deck, the remainder is placed face down and the top card is turned up to start the discard pile beside it. Players arrange their 6 cards in rows in front of them and turn 2 of these cards face up. This arrangement is maintained throughout the game and players always have 6 cards in front of them.
1) Eyes Have It Drill: Attempt three long putts, a minimum of 50 feet. If you follow the norm, most of your attempts will come up short. Try the same putt, but this time look at your target during the entire motion. Odds are you’ll hit these putts past the hole. The reason is that your eyes have an uncanny way of communicating feel to your body. This is a great drill that leads to a good pre-stroke routine in which you look at the target during your practice motions until you’re confident of your stroke’s power.

Green Reading (5 Minutes) In order to get aligned correctly, a player must know where he or she is trying to aim, then get the putterface and body in the proper positions. Start each practice session by practicing green reading. Here are some keys to learning to read greens.
Improve your putting from long range. Give yourself the opportunity to make short putts inside 5 feet from the hole. Percentages that you’ll make a putt dramatically decrease the farther away you are from the hole. The ladder drill is to improve putting from longer distances.

A putter is a really personal thing in golf, so there really isn’t a recommended option. The main thing to look for in your putter is comfort and feel. I recommend you take some time to test many putters to see which leave the biggest impression on you.
What I’m learning now, in addition to swinging a club correctly, is to hold myself more accountable for my golf game.  Taking online golf lessons is akin to walking a tightrope without a safety net.  There’s nobody around to observe your every swing and make corrections.  In truth, this is more indicative of how golf is actually played – on your own, with nothing but the space between your ears to guide you.  In an interview with pgatour.com, Sean Foley was asked if he envisioned a time when Tiger Woods wouldn’t need a coach.

Choose a putting style first, then you can test putters based on what you need for that style. Most disc golfers have one primary putting style and then use one or two backup styles in case of odd situation. Here are the main putting styles and a brief intro to get you started.
Putting is around half of your golfing score, but how often do you practice your stroke, or alignment, change your grip, or even have a putting lesson? Yes, that’s right – a lesson! Never thought of it? In that case, “Take a lesson” is probably the best tip I could give you, so follow this step by step, complete breakdown on how to putt – from grip to posture, to eye alignment, to stance and stroke, and I hope this will help you to become a better putter.
I teach students of all ages and skill levels using the latest technology with proven results.  Sean began playing at the age of 13. He quickly became a student of the swing; reading every golf magazine he could find and watching numerous golf videos. One in particular stood out–Jack Nicklaus’ “Golf My Way”. That video covered all the basics and was a major influence on his success. After attending Methodist College for Professional Golf Management, Sean joined the PGA of America in 1995 and was elected to membership in 2002. During time he has competed in many local
If you’ve got a 50-footer and you try to get it in a three-foot circle around the hole, you miss by three feet and you’ve got six feet left. But if you try and make it from 50 feet and you miss by three, you’ve only got three feet left. It sounds simple, but that’s sort of the idea for putting.
Long putters are usually between 46 and 53 inches, but can be more or less for very short or very tall golfers. If you’re 6 feet 2 or taller, use a 54-inch putter, and if you’re 6 feet 1 to 6 feet 2 tall, use a 53-inch putter. Guidelines recommend a 52-inch putter if you’re 6 feet to 6 feet 1 tall and a 51-inch putter if you’re 5 feet 11 to 6 feet tall. If you’re 5 feet 10 to 5 feet 11, use a 50-inch putter and a 49-inch putter if you’re 5 feet 9 to 5 feet 10 tall. A 48-inch putter is a good size if you’re 5 feet 8 to 5 feet 9 tall, and if you’re 5 feet 7 to 5 feet 8 tall, use a 47-inch putter. A golfer who is 5 feet 6 to 5 feet 7 tall should use a 46-inch putter, and if you’re shorter than 5 feet 6, use a 45-inch putter.

I think my service stands out because unlike a typical Swing Coach, I think the most important aspect of teaching the golf swing is communication and ensuring that the player understands why I am making the changes/suggestions that I am making during the lesson.  Additionally, I am a former Division 1 Collegiate golfer, and have been a serious competitive golfer for the majority of my life and continue down that path today.
Hold up the putter up between finger and thumb and tap the face with the edge of a coin to find the sweet spot – the clubhead will pendulum rather than twist. Mark that spot on the top of the clubhead so you can see it at address. Struck opposite that point the ball will generate overspin and roll.
Yes. According to the draft (see “8” below) there will only be 24 Rules in the 2019 Rules of Golf (there are 34 now). Please be aware, though, that the 2019 Rules will also be quite complicated and have a lot of text!

Belly putters are usually between 39 and 43 inches but can be slightly shorter or longer for very short or very tall golfers. If you’re 6 feet 2 or taller, use a belly putter with a shaft length between 45 and 47 inches. Use a 41- to 44-inch putter if you’re 5 feet 9 to 6 feet 1 tall. If you’re 5 feet 8 or shorter, the correct length is between 38 1/2 inches and 40 inches.
Our 5 Day Academy is our most comprehensive program, giving students plenty of time to experience everything Troon North has to offer.  Guests can choose from our Exclusive program or our Standard program.   The Exclusive program features instruction for 5 hours daily (typically 8:00 to 1:00), followed by lunch in the Dynamite Grille and 18 holes of golf at Troon North daily.  Over 5 days, guests will experience our complete short and long game instruction programs, detailed clubfitting in the Callaway Performance Center and Odyssey Putting Studio, and on course coaching.  Video and Trackman Launch Monitor analysis is included in all programs.
The problem is that when most golfers practice, they want to go out and bang as many range balls with their driver as they can before a round. If they simply spent some of that time on the practice green, they would quickly see improved scores. The green seems to be the mortal enemy for many golfers, and it doesn’t have to be.  Here are three great putting drills to add to your arsenal that will help you become a better putter and consequently, a better golfer.
6 months ago i stayed in vilamoura with my family for a few days, to enjoy the sun and visit properties with the aim to buy the holiday house i have always dreamed about. I stayed at four seasons hotel and had also planned to play golf. Clare Lester, in charge of the golf section at the hotel, arranged 2 rounds of golf for me: played the old course and the ocean at vale de lobo. Great service from Clare, all went very well and i enjoyed those two great courses. But this is nothing compared to the next thing she organised for me: a lesson with her husband Peter Lester at the pinhal driving range. I have had many lessons in my golfing live (started golf 9 years ago at the age of 38 when i moved to UK). I never had a lesson like that: after 5 swings, Peter knew exactly what i needed to change. Easy to understand instructions helped me so much to improve my swing. Amazing. I went back 2 weeks ago for more house hunting, and the first thing i did before calling any local estate agent was to book a lesson with Peter. He sorted my “long game” before, this time idea was to help my short game. Again, easy to understand what he wanted me to do, but so so different: i really struggled for 5-10 minutes, but as always, Peter told me: you will get there before the end of the lesson and it was right! 30 minutes later, every 20 to 40 yds shot i played was: one, two bounce and backspin to the hole. Like a pro!! Unbelievable given my hcp is 13 and i had lost my confidence so much on my short game recently…. You might think I am speaking nonsense, I promise this is true. Peter is such a nice guy, he loves giving lessons, and he is so so good. If you like golf, don’t go anywhere else than Vilamoura and get a lesson (or more if you can) with Peter. Contact his lovely wife at four seasons, she will sort everything out!

2. Try to leave yourself with an easy, uphill second putt.  To term it in a different way, if you will miss, miss on the downside of the target.  A four foot straight, uphill putt isn’t all that hard.  Just hit it straight.  However a two foot, downhill putt which includes a break is generally precarious.

As a beginner I recommend you get a #4 hybrid and maybe even a #5 hybrid (these two would replace your 3, 4 and 5 iron) – hybrids tend to go a little further than irons so a #4 hybrid would cover the 3 iron too. I recommend Callaway XR hybrids. For more information on beginner hybrids click here.

That’s my thing with shorter putts. Find a speck of grass or a different piece from the on the hole. Then find a good trigger to begin your stroke. Mine is looking at the ball after I’ve looked at the hole and taken three strokes in my pre-shot routine. As soon as my eyes get back to the ball I take it back and hit it. I may do a minor forward press, but it’s not the overall trigger. I look at the ball and go. I’ve done it since I was 16, there’s no change or delay.

To improve your swing, you must know why the ball does what it does in flight. That way you at least know what really caused the errant shot and perhaps can make the correct fix. You must understand the simple Ball Flight Laws.
That’s number one in my book. From there then you can build confidence because your putter face is aiming where you want the ball to go. A lot of amateur mistakes can get fixed if they just have a square putter face and a balanced position at address. With Trackman, 80% of where the ball is going to start begins with where the face is aimed. In putting, it’s probably 99, 98%. So if you can aim the face straight where you want then you can read the greens better because your putts are going to start on the correct line. You might read it left edge, but you have your putter face aimed right edge then the ball starts on the right edge and breaks, then you think ‘man, I can’t read greens’ and then I say ‘no, you weren’t aiming it where you wanted to aim it!’
Beginner sets also use shafts that are a little shorter in length as this makes it easier to control the club. A shorter shaft length however, does mean less distance. But as a beginner, consistency is more important.

So how can you, the novice golfer, move from the awkward early phase to the next level, where you routinely get the ball airborne, finish holes without picking up and hit numerous shots every round that bring you back for more?
Hi, my name is Kris Ruiter and I am a personal golf coach.  Golf has been a part of my life for over 30 years, with 15 years of those dedicated to teaching. I have enjoyed teaching golf in both Canada and the U.S.A. I have worked with the aspiring playing professional to the new player who has never touched a club in their life.  I love the challenge and the fun of working with players of all levels. One of my favorite teaching days of all time was back to back lessons with a 12 year old girl then an 82 year old man.  Neither of them had ever touched a club before. It was such a fun day…as was the day when one of my competitive players made a career best 9 birdies in a competitive round.

I believe that every golfer has their own individual swing type. You cannot categorize everyone into the same mechanics that a lot of Golf Professionals like to do. I enjoy using a variety of methods to figure out the right swing for my students.

Maybe Johnny Cash was referring to golf when he sang “I Walk The Line.” Probably not, but Jason Day suggests amateurs should use more than their sense of sight when trying to read longer putts. His tip: Walk the line and get a feel for the pitch of the green.
First in Ali’s beginner golf swing three-step drill, she teaches you how to get used to pulling the club over your shoulder during the backswing and follow-through, bending your right arm at the start and your left at the finish. Next in the beginner golf swing drill, you’ll learn how to double up for success. Ali shows you how to use two clubs to further develop a proper swing plane, being sure to keep the clubs parallel and never let them touch.

Green Reading (5 Minutes) In order to get aligned correctly, a player must know where he or she is trying to aim, then get the putterface and body in the proper positions. Start each practice session by practicing green reading. Here are some keys to learning to read greens.
The best part about these golf lessons is that no matter what your athletic ability level is, everyone can grip the club properly. Everyone can aim properly. Everyone can stand in a sound setup with the ball in the proper position.
The head size of your golf clubs is important, particularly when choosing woods. Generally the larger the head size the larger the sweet spot. Therefore clubs which are oversized are generally very good for beginners as they are much more forgiving than small or mid head sized clubs. That being said, you don’t want the head size of our clubs to be too big, as this can make it difficult to control the ball. For example, senior golfers who generally don’t generate a lot of club head speed would benefit from oversized heads, whereas a beginner who still have many years under his belt would want to go for a mid to large head size. In practical terms we recommend drivers with a head sized of 450 to 460 cc. Irons should have a larger face and a deeper cavity at the back of the club. If you look at the head of irons used by top players you will notice four things: 1. the sole of the club is relatively narrow, as a beginner you want a wider sole. 2. The face of the club is relatively small with a tight sweet spot, as a starter golfer you want a larger face with a wider sweet spot to cater for mishits. 3. The cavity at the back of the club is usually very shallow, with some irons being total blades (see cast vs forged irons below), as a beginner you want a deeper cavity to disperse the weight to the perimeter of the club. And 4. Better players use irons with very little offset of the club head from the shaft, as intermediate or beginner you want a good amount of offset to make it easier to launch the ball off the ground.

The confidence of using properly fit equipment is another key to your golf success. So each GOLFTEC Game Plan comes with a TECFIT club fitting. Our club fitting system provides a precise, unbiased fitting experience. Your certified fitter cross-references your ball flight characteristics with a database of thousands of club and shaft combinations to find the models that optimize the results of your swing. Clubs are then custom-built to your personal specifications.
Our approach to golf instruction is to help you “see” the club and ball interaction so that you can actually influence it. We help you develop your way of playing your best, not just show you our way and force you to conform to it. You’ll find out that golf really can be fun!
Fun, engaged and concerned only about your satisfaction, I highly recommend Frank. He is engaging, positive and able to explain concepts clearly and concisely. And it’s obvious that your improvement truly matters to him. Added bonus: he made it fun, which is hard to do in 100+ degree heat!…

The third fundamental is to strike the ball with a slight upstroke. This gives the ball a forward roll. The way to achieve this is to position yourself so that the ball is two inches forward of your sternum. Phillip Kenyon demonstrates how to do this.

This is a drill that you can practice at home. Just make sure you are on a flat surface where the ball will roll straight. Like the previous drill, this exercise is designed to help you make those must-have short putts while promoting accuracy. It’s also very easy to set up. All you need is a coin or a ball marker, a golf ball, and your favorite flat stick. Just set the coin about a foot in front of the ball and practice putting over it. The goal here is to go right over the top of the coin. Since the coin is a small target, it requires a high degree of accuracy, even from short range.

The debate over whether to read putts from behind the hole or behind the ball is a hotly contested one. For me, the correct answer’s a no-brainer: It depends. Different putts demand different perspectives in order for your eyes to accurately assess both distance and slope. Here’s a simple guide:

Learning how to play golf the correct way is key for all beginner golfers to build a solid swing foundation. Once a beginner golfer develops bad habits, it’s much harder to cure and try to unlearn them than it is to get it right from the start.
Aim and alignment forms very much a part of the golf set-up above but is so important it deserves a section of its own. In fact the great Jack Nicklaus once said ‘if you’ve mastered the correct aim and alignment you’ve mastered 80% of the game.

Many people know what golf is, but have little knowledge about playing the game. A large course, expensive clubs, and advanced techniques may be intimidating to first-time golfers. The only way to move past the fear is to engage with other beginners and learn from experienced players. If you want to get on the course, but have no clue how to start, consider taking golf lessons. The following are five benefits of taking golf lessons as a beginner.
This class is geared around improving on the fundamentals. The smaller class size allows for greater one-on-one time with the professional for more personal instruction, and will cover a wider variety of topics than the Beginner class, including uneven lies, shot shaping, and recovery shots. Recreational golfers are constantly seeking tips on how to improve, and the major golf publications such as Golf Magazine and Golf Digest devote substantial portions of their pages to instructional material of various kinds, often written by top-level instructors. 1. Judge distance from the side of the putt, not from behind the ball. This gives you much better appreciation of the overall putt length. Remember how far the putt looks from this perspective, then go back to the ball to complete your read.

Once you have positioned yourself properly in front of the ball during the setup the next part involves actually hitting the ball. While the golf swing is certainly complex in itself, it can be broken down into swing sequences that you should strive to master. They are: takeaway, backswing, top of the swing, downswing, impact, extension & rotation, and the follow through.

Establishing an identical pre-shot routine is essential. Check the line (ideally while others are putting out but not in their eye-line), address slightly away from ball, check your alignment, practice swing to get the feel of the pace, shuffle forward to the ball.
I also like to have my students not think about hitting the ball. Even thinking about hitting the ball can interfere with focus on the line (which is where it all needs to be). It’s a stroke that the ball gets in the way of.

Before you start bombing them down the fairway, there are some fundamental golf tips that all beginner golfers should know. This section of How To Play Golf beginner golf tips and lessons, lays out the basics from the initial correct addressing of the golf ball all the way to the final follow through.
Comfort and alignment are crucial but the shoulders must be kept square and aligned to the direction of the line on which you want the ball to roll. Try left hand below right, (if you’re a right handed player – and like Jim Furyk or Padraig Harrington); it helps to keep the shoulders square at impact. You may have to adjust to a shorter-shafted putter to get the full value of the stroke.

Some of the world’s best putters play with an open or closed stance – take Jack Nicklaus and Jim Furyk, for example. For me, all you need to align is the putter face, your forearms and shoulders (getting the putter face aligned is the first step). The forearms and shoulders determine the path of the putting stroke, not the lower body. If your shoulders and forearms are pointing to the right of the target line, you’ll push more putts to the right (it’s that simple). There’s no need to worry about the alignment of your feet and lower body (do whatever feels comfortable). When you’re over the ball looking at your spot, start to become conscious of the putter face, forearms and shoulders being square to it.

The highest score loses the game and the lowest score wins the game. A total of 10 games are played.
So its back to working on my posture, takeaway and backswing in my living room.  If it seems like I’m learning how to swing a golf club again, it’s probably because I’ve never been properly taught how to in the first place, in spite of all that time I clocked in beating balls with a golf pro hovering nearby.  In retrospect, the only thing I managed to get good get at was launching scuffed up balls into a far-off net.
Some top instructors who work with professional golfers have become quite well known in their own right over the years, including Harvey Penick, Jack Grout, Dick Harmon, David Leadbetter, Butch Harmon, Hank Haney, Chip Thomson, Sean Foley, Quentin Patterson and Mike Bennett and Andy Plummer. Some of the teachers maintain teaching facilities or schools where they or their disciples use their methods or systems. A few instructors focus solely on a particular aspect of the sport, such as Dave Pelz with the short game. Some famous golfers have been tightly bound with their instructor, such as Jack Nicklaus with Jack Grout, while in other cases golfers have made high-profile switches from one instructor to another, such as Tiger Woods moving from Butch Harmon to various other instructors.

After three weeks I finally took a trip to the range.  Getting into my new posture required very little conscious effort and I made some half decent swings.  I took a few new videos of myself and uploaded them for review.  My instructor acknowledged the hard work I put in, noted that my takeaway was still going back a fraction inside and began to diagram the next phase of my swing reconstruction – improving my backswing.  Although I am in reasonably good athletic shape, I tend to cheat a little bit taking the club up to the top.  The current goal is to get my back to target so that I can finally feel what it means to be loaded onto my right side (as a right-handed golfer).  I’ll need to ingrain this new movement before my instructor and I can tackle sequencing in my downswing.

Wedges are very important clubs as they are used to finesse the ball close to the pin when one is near the green. Today there are all types of wedges, ranging from standard pitching wedges and sand wedges, to gap wedges and lob wedges. Wedges range in loft from 50 degrees up to 60 degrees. A wedge allows you to really get under the ball and launch it high. This means you can stop the ball quicker on the green and as you get better you will also be able to backspin the ball. As a beginner I recommend your golf club set to have a pitching wedge and a sand wedge. The latter is used to get out of sand traps.

In a standard golf club set, you will find irons ranging from 1 to 9, but most sets have irons ranging from 3 to 9. A 3, 4 and 5 iron are typically quite difficult to hit, especially if you are a beginner. This is because the sole of these clubs are narrower than the higher irons, making it hard to get under the ball. The golf industry has solved this problem with the introduction of hybrids, which replace lower number irons. Irons vary in loft from the lower irons in the late teens to the higher irons which have loft as high as 50 degrees. Irons are designed to help you slice through thick lies because of their narrow sole and higher lofts, compared to woods. Normally, irons are played off the ground (fairway or rough), however; in the case of par 3s, players can use a tee to make it easier to get under the ball. The best irons for beginners have a large offset of the club face from the shaft. This means the club face is set back off the shaft and helps starter players get under the ball. You should also look for a wide sole and dispersed weighting system to increase the sweet spot.
If you want to improve your game, golf lessons are a great option. Your instructor will teach you proper techniques. You will learn how to grip a club, how to swing correctly, and what a good stance entails. It is important to correct any errors before they become a habit and you have to relearn how to play. Golf lessons allow you to learn the right way the first time.
3. Bring the putter back less.  This point is not only valid to end three putting, but in general to improve putting, and that’s to take the putter back a lesser distance, and speed up through the ball.  This permits for greater control of the putting stroke.  Increased control is gained through acceleration, versus trying to “feel” your path through impact.  This doesn’t just allow that you hit the golf ball cleaner, but additionally by bringing the putter back a smaller distance, you will have better chance of maintaining it on line throughout the putt.
Dangle your arms in front of you and clap your hands together with palms facing, before gripping the handle of the putter softly. Ensure the back of the left hand follows through on the line on which you want the ball to roll.
I have 30 years of teaching experience. Use of cameras, pressure mats, 3d motion. I’ve been lucky to work with touring professionals and mini tour players. I teach all ages, but I especially love working with juniors! Been teaching at Concord Country Club for the last 12 years. I am constantly learning about golf swing and biomechanics of the body. It’s easy!  Simply click the tab at the bottom of this page then you’ll be brought back to this page where our Online Lesson form will appear.  It will ask you things about yourself and your golf abilities, then you’ll be able to upload up to 4 videos of your golf swing. We prefer you to send two videos from a face-on view, and two videos of a down-the-line view so I can make accurate judgements on your swing.
I can identify with new golfer and higher handicap golfers. I am  able to give my students all of the beginning and intermediate skills at a reasonable rate. I will make putting, chipping and pitching easy for any of my students.  I started teaching golf to high school students in 1985 and have constantly built on my skills.
The set includes the following clubs and features: 10.5° 460cc driver with a cool graphite shaft, a #3 fairway wood with steel shaft, two hybrids – #3 & 4 with steel shaft. I’m a PGA Golf Instructor who is certified in TPI, K-Vest, and SAM Putt Lab.  I have state of the art equipment to ensure you’re achieving your goals.  I studied Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) which is the biomechanics of the golf swing. I know exactly why and how your body should move in the golf swing. If you’re having any type of pain: Back, elbow, shoulder, wrist pain, I can tell you why and show you how to relieve it.  The Golf swing is a complex move, but I make it my goal every day to help you achieve yours and create the most efficient swing for you, that maximizes
You get the same perspective disruption when you read putts from the high side; like a tilted book, the green ends up running away from you, making the distance between the ball and the hole look longer than it is.
Beginning at dealer’s left, players take turns drawing single cards from either the stock or discard piles. The drawn card may either be swapped for one of that player’s 6 cards, or discarded. If the card is swapped for one of the face down cards, the card swapped in remains face up. If the card drawn is discarded, the player can then either flip a card or choose to make no move. The round ends when all of a player’s cards are face-up. Remaining players then have one turn to draw a card to improve their hands and then scores are totaled and recorded on a running score sheet.
I am a former collegiate golfer, and PGA assistant professional. I currently coach a local high school varsity golf team. I have been giving private lessons for over 20 years. I believe that each golfer has his or her own swing, and should not be taught to swing like a tour pro. By learning proper fundamentals, the student can build their swing to be repeatable, and become a better player. Make golf fun again, and call today. Playing lessons also available.
It can be played single or double pack. Each player receives four cards face down in a 2×2 grid and looks at two before play begins. Thereafter, players do not look at their face-down cards; however, there is a house rule that players may take a stroke (gain one point) to look at one of these cards again. Play proceeds as in six-card golf, but a player may knock (instead of drawing) at any time – even before all of the players cards have been swapped for face-up cards – and then all other players have one chance to improve their hands before scores are tallied. Pairs are counted vertically, with diagonal pairs being an optional rule. Each card from 2 to 10 represents its own points (i.e. any 3 card is worth three points, any 10 card is worth ten points, and so on). Aces are one point, jacks are eleven, queens are twelve and kings thirteen points. The goal is to get the fewest points.
Although I promise to send you your lesson within 24-48 hours, many members and online students receive their lessons back the same day. You will receive an email notification when your lesson is ready to view. Just click the link and start learning on your own time.
If you are just starting to play golf or an experienced player, I recommend you begin with the Grip Lesson. Holding the club properly allows you to take full advantage of the rest of the golf lessons on my website. Once you feel comfortable with the golf grip, you can then choose any of the other lessons.
Not just for your feet but also knees, hips, shoulders and club face. Most right-handed golfers aim right but this doesn’t always mean the ball will go right as often their swing will compensate for poor alignment. Check your alignment every practice session for the rest of your life!
Cities everywhere are taking a hard look at the ‘golf’ line in their budgets. We went to Oshkosh, Wisconsin, where city officials wondered: preserve the beloved course, or sell it as the site of a local corporation’s new headquarters?
I started out as a recreational golfer in West Trenton NJ , Played my High School golf at Ewing HS and was All-County. Then played for the TSC (Trenton State) Lions golf team. While at college won several events and the passion for golf continued. As a PGA Professional I instruct as would a Coach. I have seen my students rise from shooting 100 all the way into the 80’s. The better players I work with enhance their game. The line, DO NOT BE AFRAID OR DISCOURAGED where you are now. With the right coaching you will enjoy the game more! All lessons I video tape and send email
A hybrid on the other hand has a similar shallow loft, but a much wider sole. This means the club head makes more content with the ground and it is easier to launch the ball. Also, hybrids have a wider sweet spot which means they are a lot more forgiving than long irons.

The debate over whether to read putts from behind the hole or behind the ball is a hotly contested one. For me, the correct answer’s a no-brainer: It depends. Different putts demand different perspectives in order for your eyes to accurately assess both distance and slope. Here’s a simple guide:
I followed Coach Rusty on Instagram before finding out he was a coach for the app, I immediately downloaded it and started the free trial. I sent in my swing and what I needed help with. Within half a day he sent me a series of videos that would be helpful, a ton of great feedback in comment and a 5 minutes video talking about fundamentals of my swing and how to improve. I absolutely will be subscribing for the year, these guys are knowledgeable and super positive.

Ask any good putter what separates him or her from the crowd, and they’ll most likely say, “My ability to bury the short ones, inside three feet, almost all the time.” Sure, crazy lipouts or spike marks happen, but if you really want to shave strokes off your card and be a master of the Read more…

On a personal note, Micheal has had the opportunity to play and caddy for/with many members of the Dallas Stars and Cowboys. Cricket was his passion growing up, playing in representative teams at state and national levels. He came to Texas to play minor league hockey, but now is staying to play Topgolf!
Sixty-five percent of golfers under-read the break on a typical putt, according to a Golf Magazine–sponsored study conducted at the Pinehurst Golf Academy. All of these flawed reads add up to lots of lost strokes, even with perfect putting technique. In our study, we assessed the green-reading skill of 72 golfers just like you. Initially, our research team simply sought to determine the ideal position from which to accurately detect slope (behind the hole, behind the ball, etc.), but results showed view position to be meaningless to good green-reading. Our study subjects misread everything, no matter where they stood or crouched. Some 25 years ago, Dave Pelz told everyday players to triple the amount of break they saw, and that’s as true now as it was then.

High-level golf is about scoring. The skills include developing a reliable shot pattern, making good decisions on the course, and not wasting strokes around the greens. With our newest video curriculum, you can get an upgrade in all of these areas—and watch your scores drop.
There are several reasons, so let’s take a quick look at the most important ones. First, we live extremely busy lives in the 21st century. It seems that 24 hours in a day is not enough to do all that we have to do as we try to pack in all of the chores and commitments. We are in a constant rush.
This will not only work on your rhythm and confidence, but also give you practice putting in pressure situations.  By the time you get to the 11th and 12th ball it will feel like your on the 18th trying to make a 9-foot putt to win the club championship.

Andrew Rice has become one of the most popular faces in the online golf instruction world for good reason. He’s one of the best communicators I’ve ever seen. You’ll be hard-pressed to find someone who conducts a better video presentation than Andrew, and it’s why his following has become so large.
My wife had a couple of starter lessons with Peter earlier in the summer and came back so enthused I decided I had to take up golf too! We booked a course of lessons over a two week period with Peter, who came up with a schedule that covered all areas of the game and gave us an opportunity to play on the course as well as refine our swing on the range, so giving us variety and a great experience of every aspect of the game. Peter was meticulous in his detail of our every move and incredibly attentive and patient. From never having held a club at the beginning of our course I was able to play a round (just!) by the end and the confidence he has given my wife with her game means we have both become a little obsessed! Couldn’t rate Peter highly enough; would strongly recommend his tutoring not just to beginners like ourselves but to anyone who wishes to reassess their game under the courteous and extremely knowledgeable guidance of a real pro. Thanks Peter; can’t wait to back for more.

New golfers can start out by taking group lessons at first. Group lessons are less expensive than private lessons, and beginners can learn the basic grip, setup and swing in a group setting. Some people find it comfortable and motivating to learn with others of a similar level. As an added bonus, group lessons can introduce you to other golfers who might become your golfing partners when you are ready to try out your newly learned golf skills on the course.

During play it is not legal for a player to pick up a card from the discard pile and return it to the discard pile without playing it, to allow another player to retrieve the card. A card picked up from the discard pile must be swapped with one of the current player’s cards.
My hope is to make Practical Golf one of the leading resources that golfers can go to for honest information, but I’m not the only one out there with this goal. Here are other resources that I have learned from personally, and I believe you can too.
Putting Mechanics (25 Minutes) The goal of a good putting stroke is to consistently strike the ball solidly in the direction the putter is aligned with the proper pace. This is the essence of putting and, accordingly, this will be the biggest part of your hour. Concentrate on five main areas.
Anyone who has followed my site for a while knows that practicing the right way is one of the cornerstones of Practical Golf. Matthew Cooke has made that one of the primary focuses of his business Game Like Training. Matthew specializes in performance games that are meant to challenge golfers in their practice sessions and increase skill.
The third fundamental is to strike the ball with a slight upstroke. This gives the ball a forward roll. The way to achieve this is to position yourself so that the ball is two inches forward of your sternum. Phillip Kenyon demonstrates how to do this.
3) Closest-To-The-Hole Contest: With your golf partner, play a putting match in which you get points for being the closest to the hole. Award five points for making a putt and two points for lagging inside the length of your putter. A bonus point is awarded to the ball that’s closest to the hole. For any putt outside the safety zone, deduct one point. Play to an agreed-upon total for your beverage of choice (save the champagne for the winning putt at the Club Championship)!
Only an objective, fact-based analysis of your swing can provide the basis for where you need work and how to measure your progress. That’s why every GOLFTEC student starts with a Swing Evaluation. Using GOLFTEC’s patented TECSWING Training System, your Coach combines the data captured using motion measurement of your swing with real-time video analysis to determine precisely what key improvements are needed to take your game to the next level.
Balboa Park Municipal Golf Course dates back to 1915 and was designed by famed course architect William P Bell. Located downtown, it is a small course that looks easier than it actually is. In addition to the 18-hole course there is a nine-hole course, a driving range, putting greens and a coffee shop. The planes coming in to land at Lindbergh Field form an impressive backdrop.
Josh Campbell has worked in the golf industry for over 10 years. He is originally from Maine and started playing golf at the age of 3. Josh played college and high school golf and helped his high school team win a State Championship in 1997. From there he attended and graduated from The San Diego Golf Academy with an Associate degree in Golf Management in 2006. Josh has worked for golf clubs in both Maine and Texas; there he had the privilege to work with a variety of golfers of all skill levels. He currently resides in Dallas, Texas with his wife and son who recently turned two.

Do me a favor and sign your name on a piece of paper. See how quick and easy that was? Now try to slowly duplicate that signature. Not so easy. The reason is, you’re thinking about it and not tapping into your subconscious, the way you did when you signed the first time. Putting is no different. The best putters see their target line and then roll the ball on that line, just like you saw the paper and then signed it. The lesson is, keep it natural, and don’t let yourself get bogged down by anything.
Here’s a really good drill. Get three or four balls and start at 10 feet. Drop each one two feet apart, putt the first one and gradually work your way back to 50 feet. Learn what it feels like to hit those different putts. Do this as opposed to dropping balls down in one spot and whacking one six feet past and the next one six feet short. If you’re really struggling, start at two feet and end at 20 feet.
Yes. According to the draft (see “8” below) there will only be 24 Rules in the 2019 Rules of Golf (there are 34 now). Please be aware, though, that the 2019 Rules will also be quite complicated and have a lot of text!
If you type “golf for beginners” into YouTube you come up with about 131,000 results. If they averaged 10 minutes in length it would take you about 2 years doing nothing else day and night to watch them all.
