In a good golf swing the body only rotates at approximately 2.5 mph. If the body doesn’t turn very fast and it’s telling the arms how fast to come down the overall swing would appear slow and effortless.

To hit a chip shot solid you need to hit the golf ball, then the ground. In order to achieve this you must strike the ball at or before the bottom of the swing. Getting your weight and golf club leaning slightly forward at the setup are excellent ways to improve contact. At the setup feel 60% of your weight on the forward foot. It will feel as though back shoulder is higher than your front shoulder. This sets your swing into a steeper position allowing for a solid hit. Now the key is to keep the weight there during the swing. Next get the shaft leaning slightly toward the target. A good reference point is to have the grip of the club even with the middle of your forward thigh. This along with leaning forward add just enough steepness to allow for a solid hit on the golf ball.
Usually the most natural and the easiest to figure out the basics. Throw the putter with spin which helps stabilize the putter and shape your putting line. Can be less consistent than other styles because it requires movement from multiple joints on your body

In a standard golf club set, you will find irons ranging from 1 to 9, but most sets have irons ranging from 3 to 9. A 3, 4 and 5 iron are typically quite difficult to hit, especially if you are a beginner. This is because the sole of these clubs are narrower than the higher irons, making it hard to get under the ball. The golf industry has solved this problem with the introduction of hybrids, which replace lower number irons. Irons vary in loft from the lower irons in the late teens to the higher irons which have loft as high as 50 degrees. Irons are designed to help you slice through thick lies because of their narrow sole and higher lofts, compared to woods. Normally, irons are played off the ground (fairway or rough), however; in the case of par 3s, players can use a tee to make it easier to get under the ball. The best irons for beginners have a large offset of the club face from the shaft. This means the club face is set back off the shaft and helps starter players get under the ball. You should also look for a wide sole and dispersed weighting system to increase the sweet spot.
Students ask all the time if they should take a practice swing or not. In response, I ask if they do in fact partake in this all important facet of the game. The answer usually comes back “sometimes.” That’s like admitting we would “sometimes” like to hit a good shot.
Before you even step foot on the course there are a few things that you should figure out. Granted, you will end up learning and changing things up as you play, but it’s beneficial to start with a strategy that you can test.

It’s a simple fact: if you can put the ball in the fairway consistently, you give yourself a great chance at par or better. Conversely, miss the fairway on a regular basis and you give yourself a headache.

If you’ve got a 50-footer and you try to get it in a three-foot circle around the hole, you miss by three feet and you’ve got six feet left. But if you try and make it from 50 feet and you miss by three, you’ve only got three feet left. It sounds simple, but that’s sort of the idea for putting.

What I’m learning now, in addition to swinging a club correctly, is to hold myself more accountable for my golf game.  Taking online golf lessons is akin to walking a tightrope without a safety net.  There’s nobody around to observe your every swing and make corrections.  In truth, this is more indicative of how golf is actually played – on your own, with nothing but the space between your ears to guide you.  In an interview with pgatour.com, Sean Foley was asked if he envisioned a time when Tiger Woods wouldn’t need a coach.

Tell me if this sounds familiar. You hit a great drive down the middle of the fairway and nice approach shot just off the edge of the green. You then proceed to mishit the chip and leave yourself a 10 footer for par that you miss. Meanwhile your buddy hits it in the trees off the tee, scrapes his second shot out, and then gets up and down from 40 yards for par beating you on the hole. Makes you want to pull your hair out right? The good news is that it doesn’t have to be like this. With a few simple adjustments you can start hitting more solid chip shots that end up closer to the hole and give you a better chance to save par. Here are 3 easy ways to improve your chip shots:
Choose a putting style first, then you can test putters based on what you need for that style. Most disc golfers have one primary putting style and then use one or two backup styles in case of odd situation. Here are the main putting styles and a brief intro to get you started.

If you want to improve your game, golf lessons are a great option. Your instructor will teach you proper techniques. Golf lessons allow you to learn the right way the first time.
Golf is a traditional game, and there are many rules a player needs to know to behave correctly on the golf course. Lessons can include the basics rules of golf and golf etiquette. The teaching pro can inform the beginner about such issues as playing the ball where it lies and conditions when it is appropriate to move the ball; keeping up with the pace of play; preventing distractions on the golf course; and golf cart etiquette, including “cart path only” and “90-degree” rules.
2) Safety Zone Drill: On the green, make a semicircle around the back edge of the hole using the length of your putter as a guide and mark the perimeter with a few tees. From different lengths, practice until you can get 10 putts in a row to come to rest either in the hole or inside this semicircular safety zone.

1) Setup And Alignment: With the logo on your golf ball aligned at the proper aiming point, it should be easy to set the putterface to this line. Often, it’s helpful to have a putter with lines or marks to help visualize the alignment. Make sure your arms are hanging freely, that your eyes are over or slightly inside the ball/target line and, most importantly, that your shoulders are square to the target. I use a small mirror to check my alignment and eye position.

Golf Lessons with Derek Hooper – I have always felt that putting is the easiest part of the game. It requires little strength, endurance, flexibility or speed and thus with some practice every player can become a proficient putter. Despite this many players still find it difficult to make as many putts as they would like and end up wasting too many strokes on the greens.

All I read on a putt are the last few feet and how it’s going to go into the hole. I then just let my brain sort of figure out the rest. I don’t read it too closely. I don’t want to overdo the read, or try too hard if that makes sense. You can get the old saying ‘paralysis by analysis’.
As anyone who plays golf regularly will know, putting is a game within a game. You can strike the ball well all day, mastering the seemingly harder side of the game but if you consistently three putt, you’ll walk off disappointed. But how much time should you pay to your putting technique, and how much to feel. The answer to that question is that both are important but here I’ll focus on the putting tips that will groove amre consistent stroke.

That’s my thing with shorter putts. Find a speck of grass or a different piece from the paint on the hole. Then find a good trigger to begin your stroke. Mine is looking at the ball after I’ve looked at the hole and taken three strokes in my pre-shot routine. As soon as my eyes get back to the ball I take it back and hit it. I may do a minor forward press, but it’s not the overall trigger. I look at the ball and go. I’ve done it since I was 16, there’s no change or delay.

Andy begins by pointing out that the object is to hit the ball in a reasonably straight line, but that a lot of beginners think that in that case the swing should be directly behind the ball and follow through in a straight line. However, that is not the case. The club does not travel in a straight line, but in an arc. The club is raised behind the golfer’s body so it is not directly behind the ball. As the swing commences it travels down the first part of the arc and – it is to be hoped – connects with the ball at exactly the point where it will send it in the direction we want, and then continues in its arc finishing up above the golfer’s left shoulder (or right, in the case of a left-handed player).
Thanks Tom! Appreciate you reading. Alignment is without a doubt the biggest cause of missed putts vs poor technique, yet so many amateurs don’t want to practice it. For me it’s worth getting this right on the practice green and making the spot technique a habit. If all the best players in the world do it, it says something! I also wrote about eye dominance and why this is important in finding the spot in my latest article.

Before you even step foot on the course there are a few things that you should figure out. Granted, you will end up learning and changing things up as you play, but it’s beneficial to start with a strategy that you can test.
I also like to have my students not think about hitting the ball. Even thinking about hitting the ball can interfere with focus on the line (which is where it all needs to be). It’s a stroke that the ball gets in the way of.

Beginning at dealer’s left, players take turns drawing single cards from either the stock or discard piles. The drawn card may either be swapped for one of that player’s 6 cards, or discarded. If the card is swapped for one of the face down cards, the card swapped in remains face up. If the card drawn is discarded, the player can then either flip a card or choose to make no move. The round ends when all of a player’s cards are face-up. Remaining players then have one turn to draw a card to improve their hands and then scores are totaled and recorded on a running score sheet.

Comfort and alignment are crucial but the shoulders must be kept square and aligned to the direction of the line on which you want the ball to roll. Try left hand below right, (if you’re a right handed player – and like Jim Furyk or Padraig Harrington); it helps to keep the shoulders square at impact. You may have to adjust to a shorter-shafted putter to get the full value of the stroke.

Here’s a really good drill. Get three or four balls and start at 10 feet. Drop each one two feet apart, putt the first one and gradually work your way back to 50 feet. Learn what it feels like to hit those different putts. Do this as opposed to dropping balls down in one spot and whacking one six feet past and the next one six feet short. If you’re really struggling, start at two feet and end at 20 feet.

Fairway woods can range from a 3 wood to a 7, or even 9 wood. The loft for a 3W is generally between 12 and 17 degrees. Some sets also include a 5-wood with a loft between 18 and 23 degrees. Fairway woods can be hit off the tee and as the name suggests, on the fairway too. Most of the fairway woods have large heads that are quite similar to the driver, but they are shallower and boast a lower sweet spot, pointing towards the bottom of the club. Graphite shafts are also desirable in your fairway woods.

So its back to working on my posture, takeaway and backswing in my living room.  If it seems like I’m learning how to swing a golf club again, it’s probably because I’ve never been properly taught how to in the first place, in spite of all that time I clocked in beating balls with a golf pro hovering nearby.  In retrospect, the only thing I managed to get good get at was launching scuffed up balls into a far-off net.
It can be played single or double pack. Each player receives four cards face down in a 2×2 grid and looks at two before play begins. Thereafter, players do not look at their face-down cards; however, there is a house rule that players may take a stroke (gain one point) to look at one of these cards again. Play proceeds as in six-card golf, but a player may knock (instead of drawing) at any time – even before all of the players cards have been swapped for face-up cards – and then all other players have one chance to improve their hands before scores are tallied. Pairs are counted vertically, with diagonal pairs being an optional rule. Each card from 2 to 10 represents its own points (i.e. any 3 card is worth three points, any 10 card is worth ten points, and so on). Aces are one point, jacks are eleven, queens are twelve and kings thirteen points. The goal is to get the fewest points.
What actually makes choosing a set of golf clubs hard is the fact that there are just so many types and designs of golf clubs and all have different features which you have to consider before making that final decision. I hope the information and recommendations above have helped you make an informed decision. Below I have set out a few more considerations to take into account when choosing your beginner or intermediate level golf clubs.
Begin by placing three balls in a line at three, six, and nine feet from the hole similar to the twelve, three, six and nine position on a clock.  The goal is to make all twelve in a row. If you miss any putt, then go back to the beginning and start over.
The best beginner golf clubs have larger club faces, which makes it easy to hit the the ball and provides more forgiveness for mishits (i.e. when one strikes the ball on the toe or heel of the club). In terms of irons, beginner sets should have a decent offset and a wide sole. This makes it easier to get under the ball and launch it for a higher trajectory.
Does it make a difference? Grab a book or magazine and try reading it while tilting it away from your eyes. It’s impossible. The words are blurry, and images on the page narrow toward a vanishing point, like railroad tracks on a long straightaway (above, right photo).

If you stare at the ball too long at address, it’s easy to get brain-locked and hit a bad putt. To avoid this, I don’t even look at the ball. Try looking at a spot just in front of the ball on your target line and rolling the ball over that spot. Put a tee in the ground in front of the ball when you practice (right). This gets you thinking about the target line instead of the stroke–the opposite of what most golfers do.
For example, on a left-to-righter, the natural tendency is to lean with the slope as you settle into your address position, toward your toes, until your eyes are level with the tilt of the green. You do it without even thinking. But that makes your eyes shift outside the ball, causing you to aim left of your chosen line. The opposite happens on right-to-left putts; you lean toward your heels, shifting your eyes inside the ball, and you aim too far to the right. Hey, it’s just our natural design, but it’s a huge putting problem, compounded by the fact that your shoes feature heel wedges that slope as much as two degrees—an added tilt that further distorts your feel for break at address.

Long putters are usually between 46 and 53 inches, but can be more or less for very short or very tall golfers. If you’re 6 feet 2 or taller, use a 54-inch putter, and if you’re 6 feet 1 to 6 feet 2 tall, use a 53-inch putter. Guidelines recommend a 52-inch putter if you’re 6 feet to 6 feet 1 tall and a 51-inch putter if you’re 5 feet 11 to 6 feet tall. If you’re 5 feet 10 to 5 feet 11, use a 50-inch putter and a 49-inch putter if you’re 5 feet 9 to 5 feet 10 tall. A 48-inch putter is a good size if you’re 5 feet 8 to 5 feet 9 tall, and if you’re 5 feet 7 to 5 feet 8 tall, use a putter. A golfer who is 5 feet 6 to 5 feet 7 tall should use a 46-inch putter, and if you’re shorter than 5 feet 6, use a 45-inch putter.
The power is generated through the club hinging and re-hinging in the wrists. The looser the wrists, the more clubhead speed that is generated. If you’ve ever had some golf instruction or lessons in the past you will have worked on your wrist hinge but in doing so you were most likely trying to hit the ball solely with your arms. This hitting tightens your wrists and actually slows the club down.

As an optometrist and sports-vision specialist, I know that’s not the case. Many players I work with are “depth-deficient,” perceiving the location of the hole as closer than it is. In some cases, their perceptual error is 25 percent—that means that a 25-footer looks like it only needs to travel 20 feet. Those five feet of misjudgment cost you.
Place three balls in a row along the same line at equal distances.  I suggest 3, 6, and 9 feet to start.  Roll putts starting from the ball closest to the hole and moving outward.  This is a great drill to find rhythm before heading out on the course, or when you’re finishing up your practice for the day.

Learning to play golf does two main things: it gets us out into the fresh air when we have been stuck in an office all week, and it requires a lot of concentration. This second point is probably the main one. When you have to concentrate so hard on the shot that you are about to take at that moment, all of your worries disappear. They have to, because your mind is suddenly 100% on the shot, so everything else vanishes. There is no room left for fears, worries, and frustrations, so golf gives you mental relaxation and peace of mind.
Sergio Garcia used a driver, 3-wood, and an iron on the green after breaking his putter in Round 3 of the Dell Technologies Championship. While never advisable on the actual green, PGA Pro Lou Guzzi explains how to putt with a club other than a putter.
The debate over whether to read putts from behind the hole or behind the ball is a hotly contested one. For me, the correct answer’s a no-brainer: It depends. Different putts demand different perspectives in order for your eyes to accurately assess both distance and slope. Here’s a simple guide:
Golf instruction is the art of equipping and training golfers to play better golf through improved awareness of swing cause and effects as a result of the actions by their body, the club, and their effect on the golf ball. Most great golfers have a few common elements that make them great including: proper intentionality, swing repeatability to produce an action that fits the golfers intentionality, and a strong level of automaticity for long lasting enjoyment of the game golf. Golf instruction is unique as golf consists of five primary skills: shots from a tee (most notable: driving that uses a driver), full shots from the ground (mostly known as “iron shots”, pitching (or 3/4 shots designed for distance control, chipping (short shots around the green the require less than a full swing), putting (1 club preferably “the putter”) and course strategy or gamesmanship.

That said, there are a few things your should look for in a good starter putter. First, if your putter has an alignment feature this is a plus as it helps line up your putts. Secondly, a good weighted putter provides more stability when you are starting out.

The repetition of the drill also helps with those short putts that are infuriating when missed. Sinking four balls in a row from different particular distances will get you comfortable with those distances,  and will increase your confidence when facing those putts on the course. When using this drill, remember to start from a distance where you frequently miss putts on the course. Beginners will want to start closer in, while better putters should start further back.  Begin the drill from a distance where you are less comfortable and keep practicing until you are able to make all four putts.

The best part about these golf lessons is that no matter what your athletic ability level is, everyone can grip the club properly. Everyone can aim properly. Everyone can stand in a sound setup with the ball in the proper position.
The fix? On a breaking putt, lean in the opposite direction of the slope you’re standing on, or into the hill. This helps fight the visual distortion that your subconscious leveling system causes. Make it subtle—a little flex in your ankles in either direction will do. Shift your weight into your heels on left-to-right putts, and into your toes on right-to-lefters. Most of my students can aim straight at the hole from 10 feet away on a flat putt, yet mis-aim by two feet from the same distance if the putt has break. It’s because they fail to adjust for the posture change facilitated by our body’s need to make the world around us appear flat.
Hold up the putter up between finger and thumb and tap the face with the edge of a coin to find the sweet spot – the clubhead will pendulum rather than twist. Mark that spot on the top of the clubhead so you can see it at address. Struck opposite that point the ball will generate overspin and roll.

Next up is the correct way to hold the club. Andy says that when they take on a new pupil, whether he has been playing for six months or ten years, the way that he holds the club is the first thing that they both look at in order to ascertain if there are any problems with it. They go into considerable detail about how to hold the club, showing the back of the leading hand facing the direction in which the ball is required to go and referring to how to “close” the hand on to the grip rather than the term ”grip” the club which is the word many people use. In fact, they use the term “hold” the club rather than “grip” as they say that they don’t want you to “grip” the club too tightly. Then they go into more detail about how to use the other hand, showing a “V” shape between the thumb and the grip.

Now that I have tested them I confirm that they don’t disappoint. Like the 2015 version, the 2017 upgrade includes all the same clubs (i.e. driver, #3 fairway wood, a hybrid, irons from 5-PW and a putter), but the design and technology of the clubs has been improved. They now have larger sweet spots to their predecessor and the irons have a wider sole.
The first thing she wanted to address was my hunched over posture.  To illustrate her point, she positioned my swing adjacent with that of Rory McIlroy’s.  There was something humbling about seeing my swing in contrast to Rory’s and even my instructor sheepishly noted that it wasn’t her intention to “compare” my swing with the world’s No. 1 golfer.  Rory, of course, has model posture at setup.  He also has a neutral takeaway; mine is to the inside.  My instructor filmed a nine-minute segment picking apart my swing, explaining how posture and takeaway influence the chain of events that follow.  Her analysis concluded with a pair of additional videos that described corrections that I could incorporate into my swing.

Having trouble controlling the distance your putts travel? The most important element of putting is being able to control distance. Why? Because “Distance Controls Direction.” A putt that travels beyond the hole will curve less, while a putt that is barely making it to the hole will curve much more. If you believe the old axiom, “you get what you pay for”, then traditional instruction should easily trump any lesson you take online.  The individualized attention you receive from working side-by-side with an instructor has undeniable merit.  The question then is how much is that benefit worth?  In 2011, I took lessons from a PGA professional twice a month, surrendering over $1400 in a single year.  And that’s just a tiny fraction of the cost some recreational golfers pay to learn from a top-tier instructor.  I could have justified the continued expense had I not felt that my golf (particularly the long game) had stagnated.
My hope is to make Practical Golf one of the leading resources that golfers can go to for honest information, but I’m not the only one out there with this goal. Here are other resources that I have learned from personally, and I believe you can too.

We can’t promise we’ll make your putting the object of such flowery praise, or that we’ll make you into the next Ben Crenshaw or Jack Nicklaus. But here are 10 tips from various golf experts on how to improve your skills.

Many golfers struggle to pick the correct club for chip shots. They use too much loft which makes it tougher to make solid contact, brings backspin into play, and makes judging the roll difficult. Or they use too little loft which makes it difficult to land the ball on the green and easy to hit the shot too hard. The goal of a chip shot should be to land the ball just on the green and let it roll to the hole. Rolling a ball provides better distance control than carrying it in the air. The ball should be landed on the green though as it provides the best surface and most consistent bounce. Focus your club selection on the PW, 9, and 8 irons (keep the sand and lob wedges in the bag for shots that require more loft to land the shot on the edge of the green). Using a combination of these 3 clubs for chipping will provide a good balance of height and roll. It will also reduce your choices simplifying the club selection process. So stop throwing away shots around the green. Use the 3 chipping tips the next time you practice or play and you’ll see more up and downs and less frustration with your chip shots.
Recreational golfers are constantly seeking tips on how to improve, and the major golf publications such as Golf Magazine and Golf Digest devote substantial portions of their pages to instructional material of various kinds, often written by top-level instructors. Even television broadcasts of professional golf tournaments often contain short instructional segments, delivered by commentators who are also instructors such as Peter Kostis.
1. The first of our golf putting tips is to get it within two feet.  If you are in three putt territory, or maybe the very challenging downhill or side hill golf putt, imagine simply putting the golf ball within a two foot radius from the hole.  Using this large of an area to shoot for, stress will be reduced, and greater relaxation is going to breed far more consistency.  Only don’t take that short putt for granted.
As a beginner I recommend you get a pitching wedge and a sand wedge. These are usually included in your iron set, but if you want to purchase wedges separately then I recommend you look at the Cleveland RTX wedges.
3) Closest-To-The-Hole Contest: With your golf partner, play a putting match in which you get points for being the closest to the hole. Award five points for making a putt and two points for lagging inside the length of your putter. A bonus point is awarded to the ball that’s closest to the hole. For any putt outside the safety zone, deduct one point. Play to an agreed-upon total for your beverage of choice (save the champagne for the winning putt at the Club Championship)!

After three weeks I finally took a trip to the range.  Getting into my new posture required very little conscious effort and I made some half decent swings.  I took a few new videos of myself and uploaded them for review.  My instructor acknowledged the hard work I put in, noted that my takeaway was still going back a fraction inside and began to diagram the next phase of my swing reconstruction – improving my backswing.  Although I am in reasonably good athletic shape, I tend to cheat a little bit taking the club up to the top.  The current goal is to get my back to target so that I can finally feel what it means to be loaded onto my right side (as a right-handed golfer).  I’ll need to ingrain this new movement before my instructor and I can tackle sequencing in my downswing.
To improve your swing, you must know why the ball does what it does in flight. That way you at least know what really caused the errant shot and perhaps can make the correct fix. You must understand the simple Ball Flight Laws.
Nearly every down swing fault is due to starting it with the upper body rather than ‘bumping the hips’. Imagine skimming a stone or throwing a baseball and how the lower body starts the movement with the upper body following.
There’s another option that’s even cheaper. Check with any local colleges. Many community colleges and universities offer continuing education courses, and golf is a popular course in such programs. Many school districts also offer continuing or adult education programs, and taking golf lessons through this method can reduce your costs considerably.
2) Safety Zone Drill: On the green, make a semicircle around the back edge of the hole using the length of your putter as a guide and mark the perimeter with a few tees. From different lengths, practice until you can get 10 putts in a row to come to rest either in the hole or inside this semicircular safety zone.
I approach putts like it doesn’t matter. Instead of telling yourself ‘Oh man I have to make this putt’ just be like ‘Hey, it’s just another putt I’m gonna make’ as opposed to feeling like you’ve got to get it in. It’s not easy to care less – like you’re not trying – but sometimes you need to try a little bit less to free yourself up. You have to be loose.
For more advanced players looking to fine-tune their game, these golf lessons will get into the intricacies of your swing, such as the club positioning throughout the swing, face-angle, and impact position. For advanced players, the last two lessons in a six golf lesson package are often taken out onto the course for a playing lesson where your coach will help you simulate real situations that you would find throughout a round.
Then, simply react to the position on the dial. For example, if you see your ball falling into the cup at eight o’clock, focus on that edge of the hole as you settle into your address position, then smoothly let that line guide your stroke. If your mind’s eye sees the putt entering the cup at four o’clock, then focus only on four o’clock.
Online golf lessons are cheap and fast. And if you do a search on Google, the choices are extensive.  Getting started can be summed up in three steps — shoot a video with your mobile phone, upload it to the one of many different websites that offer the service and await from a PGA professional of your choosing.  By contrast, working with a local pro requires finding one nearby, booking their time in advance and driving however long to the course for the sake of making a couple of dozen supervised swings in less than the time it takes to bake a cake — usually, for a premium fee.

Golf is an individual sport and I treat each session and client as such. I coach as if I am having a conversation with the player to figure out what is and isn’t working for them, what parts of their game need the most improvement and what strategies, feel and tools, would work best for them. The name of the game is getting the ball in the hole in the fewest number of shots and whatever most help players accomplish that will be the focus of every session. I have experience designing and executing golf specific strength and conditioning program. I work with clients to build phys
There is not a better gift for your group than a new Callaway Golf Club, especially if it is custom built for them. Callaway produces the best equipment in golf. Give your group the gift of a new Callaway driver or wedge, or even an Odyssey Putter.
Get a metal meter stick and place it six feet away from the hole (or any target) on the line where the ball should start off the putter face.  Set the ball on the end and hit your putt.  If the ball stays on the meter stick the whole way, it means your putter face was square at impact and you put a good roll on the ball.  This is also a great putting drill that you can do at home.

I teach students of all ages and skill levels using the latest technology with proven results.  Sean began playing at the age of 13. He quickly became a student of the swing; reading every golf magazine he could find and watching numerous golf videos. One in particular stood out–Jack Nicklaus’ “Golf My Way”. That video covered all the basics and was a major influence on his success. After attending Methodist College for Professional Golf Management, Sean joined the PGA of America in 1995 and was elected to membership in 2002. During that time he has competed in many local
The USGA’s Thomas Pagel describes a rules scenario in which Arnold Palmer picked up Jack Nicklaus’ ball to concede the 1962 U.S. Open. What’s the penalty for the King’s gentlemanly act? You make the call.

My Teaching Philosophy No two students are the same, so I teach the basic techniques using each individual’s natural abilities to build their game. I never change someone’s swing. Your swing is like your fingerprint – yours and yours alone. The goal is to take your natural swing and create rhythm and consistency. I build a player’s game around the basic fundamentals (grip, set up, aim, posture, balance). Once the fundamentals are in place, we work on each area of the game from full swing to putting. I have a very relaxed teaching style using lots of positive reinforcement and encouragement to
Another trick to free your mind is to picture the ball going in on the high side of the hole on a breaking putt. Most golfers miss low. For this left-to-right putt (below), I want the ball to enter the cup well left of center.

Pro tip: For at least 10% of your practice, putt with just one ball and treat it like you would on the course.  Mark the ball, read the putt, and go through your routine before rolling it.  It will help you find the rhythm that you will use when you’re actually on the course.
As part of our fact-based diagnosis our Motion Measurement System will identify 12 critical elements of mechanics in your swing, including: shoulder turn, shoulder tilt, shoulder bend, hip turn, hip tilt, hip bend and more. Your Coach will use the quantified mechanics of your swing to guide and measure changes that develop a more effective golf swing.

If you want to improve your game, golf lessons are a great option. Your instructor will teach you proper techniques. Golf lessons allow you to learn the right way the first time.
1) Eyes Have It Drill: Attempt three long putts, a minimum of 50 feet. If you follow the norm, most of your attempts will come up short. Try the same putt, but this time look at your target during the entire motion. Odds are you’ll hit these putts past the hole. The reason is that your eyes have an uncanny way of communicating feel to your body. This is a great drill that leads to a good pre-stroke routine in which you look at the target during your practice motions until you’re confident of your stroke’s power.

Golf Instruction can be wide ranging, but many great modern day instructors are able to diagnose and prescribe swing frustrations accurately and present a clear fix that encourages the golfer in the discovery of lasting repeatability from the specific ailment that “plagued” them from a sound repeatable swing to play a golf course successfully (varying terms of success as a golfer ) Many modern instructors include the following in their diagnosis 1. visual feedback through video and bio motion analysis 2. personalized golf club fitting for individual body and swing types 3. on-course play under real conditions 4. mental performance development 5. golf specific body conditioning for optimal golf bio-mechanics
If you are a new player to golf or are an experienced player that would like to hit the reset button then I would approach your learning the same way I approach the development of almost every player. Start with the shortest stroke first.  This means to start with the putting stroke and move your way back to through the clubs and shots all the way to the driver.
This video covers the pre-shot routine. PGA professional Mike Bender explains why the routine is so important and how to develop one for yourself. He shows you from beginning to end the elements of a good pre-shot routine. You will learn what most amateurs do wrong with their routine and how many seconds a good pre-shot routine typically lasts.

You don’t really think about how a ball is going to go into the hoop if you’re playing basketball, or a pass in football. You just think about delivering the ball to that person. We tend to over-think putting.
