While I may be young, I am an established golfer looking to share the knowledge I gained over the years.  I come from a long line of decorated golf professionals and have worked with the best in the industry such as Chinese Olympic Coach Andrew Park. I was an all state golfer for Red Lion Christian Academy from 2009-2013, and a three time all conference golfer for Eastern University from 2013-2017.  My senior year I was awarded Team MVP. I currently teach out of Chesapeake Bay Golf Club in Rising Sun, Maryland.  I specialize in developing powerful, dynamic golf swings. Currently
Great putting starts with a great imagination. Reading putts is an exercise of that imagination. The player must imagine the effect of the terrain upon the travel of the ball. You’ll See It When You Believe It is the title of one of Dr. Wayne Dyer’s many books. I suggest to students that they have to practice Read more…
It was a key moment in the tournament: Seung-Yul Noh, facing a 14-foot par-saving putt on the 17th hole Sunday to keep his lead at three shots. And compounding matters? A gusty, swirling wind that accentuated TPC Louisiana’s undulating greens.

The top half of your body should be towards a horizontal position, ie your shoulders, neck and back of your head. If you are standing too upright, there is a tendency to direct the weight of your body towards your heels. You should be looking straight down over the ball and through the centre of your eye and not out of the lower part of the eye.

I have already talked about the importance of engaging the bigger muscles to control the swing. If you can do this then all you need to do to hit the ball further is make a slightly bigger swing, master it and you’ll be far better at lag putting.

I don’t think most golfers appreciate just how many shots they are throwing away with their putter. If you want to better your scores on the golf course and lower your handicap as quickly as possible – improve your putting.
As a beginner I recommend you get a #4 hybrid and maybe even a #5 hybrid (these two would replace your 3, 4 and 5 iron) – hybrids tend to go a little further than irons so a #4 hybrid would cover the 3 iron too. I recommend Callaway XR hybrids. For more information on beginner hybrids click here.
Putting is a game within a game. Being able to swing the golf club well will mean very little if you are always three putting when you reach the green. A good stroke can make up for almost anything and if you can develop a sound technique you’ll see more putts drop – guaranteed. However, putting is more art than science. If you can devote time to putting in practice your feel on the greens is bound to improve. You can accelerate this progress by using some of our best drills. Our putting tips section will make you deadly from short range and help you avoid dreaded three putts. It’s a must read for anyone looking to shoot lower scores.
If you are just starting to play golf or an experienced player, I recommend you begin with the Grip Lesson. Holding the club properly allows you to take full advantage of the rest of the golf lessons on my website. Once you feel comfortable with the golf grip, you can then choose any of the other lessons.
Many golfers are lucky enough not to suffer from a slicing tendency in their swings. However some of them are saddled by an equally problematic swing problem in that it produces golf hooks. Review this anti-hook series of videos to stop hooking for good. We cover the causes behind hooks, as well as the step by step instructions on how to stop hooking. Finally, we review golf hooking drills to assist you in the process.
Make the short putts. Nothing is more frustrating than hitting a great drive, placing the approach shot on the green and missing a two-foot par putt and walking away with bogey. Practice, practice, and practice from short ranges. The clock drill is excellent reinforcement.
Our approach to golf instruction is to help you “see” the club and ball interaction so that you can actually influence it. We help you develop your way of playing your best, not just show you our way and force you to conform to it. You’ll find out that golf really can be fun!

Getting started was simple enough.  I took two videos of my golf swing with my iPhone (down-the-line and face-on) and uploaded them to the website.  I also took the time to describe my swing faults at great length.  Communication is critical between between a student and teacher, probably more so since there’s no face-to-face component involved.  I received a response from my instructor 24 hours later.
One of the first things that you need to master is your swing. We found a great video by Andy Proudman and Piers Ward which has had nearly four million views. It’s called Golf Swing Made Simple and runs for less than seven minutes.

So how can you, the novice golfer, move from the awkward early phase to the next level, where you routinely get the ball airborne, finish holes without picking up and hit numerous shots every round that bring you back for more?

The best beginner golf clubs have larger club faces, which makes it easy to hit the the ball and provides more forgiveness for mishits (i.e. when one strikes the ball on the toe or heel of the club). In terms of irons, beginner sets should have a decent offset and a wide sole. This makes it easier to get under the ball and launch it for a higher trajectory.

Upload swings to The James Parker Golf Academy. This will also save me as your preferred academy so next time you can send your swings with a few easy clicks. The best part about these golf lessons is that no matter what your athletic ability level is, everyone can grip the club properly. Everyone can aim properly. Everyone can stand in a sound setup with the ball in the proper position.
Finally, every putt is a straight putt and you must strike the ball with a smooth acceleration so that you control the speed of the ball. Many amateurs either hit the ball with a short backswing and a hurried hit, or a long backswing with deceleration, both of which will cause the ball to veer off course.
We take a holistic approach to your academy experience by including everything Troon North has to offer in each program.  Guests will not only experience the best coaching in Scottsdale, but they will dine in the Dynamite Grille, play on Troon North’s top ranked courses, and experience the Callaway Performance Center for a complete game evaluation.
Improve your putting from long range. Give yourself the opportunity to make short putts inside 5 feet from the hole. Percentages that you’ll make a putt dramatically decrease the farther away you are from the hole. The ladder drill is designed to improve putting from longer distances.
Practising with a short, lofted club encourages better posture and cleaner ball striking. Everybody gains confidence in seeing a nice high ball flight. Too little loft encourages new golfers too use a destructive scooping action to get the ball upwards.
Now the reason I like to do my practice swings before I find my spot, is because if I did them after, I could lose sight of my spot and have to start over, which would disrupt the fluidity of the process.
Comfort and alignment are crucial but the shoulders must be kept square and aligned to the direction of the line on which you want the ball to roll. Try left hand below right, (if you’re a right handed player – and like Jim Furyk or Padraig Harrington); it helps to keep the shoulders square at impact. You may have to adjust to a shorter-shafted putter to get the full value of the stroke.
Confidence: (10 Minutes) The best putters in the world have the ability to read greens and judge distance correctly. They also have solid alignment routines and fundamentally sound putting mechanics. Their rhythm is flawless and consistent. But these things wouldn’t make them great putters unless they got used to making putts and getting the sensory feedback of seeing and hearing the ball dive into the hole. There’s only one way to get this confidence: Make more putts.
Long putters are usually between 46 and 53 inches, but can be more or less for very short or very tall golfers. If you’re 6 feet 2 or taller, use a 54-inch putter, and if you’re 6 feet 1 to 6 feet 2 tall, use a 53-inch putter. Guidelines recommend a 52-inch putter if you’re 6 feet to 6 feet 1 tall and a 51-inch putter if you’re 5 feet 11 to 6 feet tall. If you’re 5 feet 10 to 5 feet 11, use a 50-inch putter and a 49-inch putter if you’re 5 feet 9 to 5 feet 10 tall. A 48-inch putter is a good size if you’re 5 feet 8 to 5 feet 9 tall, and if you’re 5 feet 7 to 5 feet 8 tall, use a 47-inch putter. A golfer who is 5 feet 6 to 5 feet 7 tall should use a 46-inch putter, and if you’re shorter than 5 feet 6, use a 45-inch putter.

Some top instructors who work with professional golfers have become quite well known in their own right over the years, including Harvey Penick, Jack Grout, Dick Harmon, David Leadbetter, Butch Harmon, Hank Haney, Chip Thomson, Sean Foley, Quentin Patterson and Mike Bennett and Andy Plummer. Some of the teachers maintain teaching facilities or schools where they or their disciples use their methods or systems. A few instructors focus solely on a particular aspect of the sport, such as Dave Pelz with the short game. Some famous golfers have been tightly bound with their instructor, such as Jack Nicklaus with Jack Grout, while in other cases golfers have made high-profile switches from one instructor to another, such as Tiger Woods moving from Butch Harmon to various other instructors.

You read almost every putt, but if you’re like most players, your routine is guesswork disguised as green-reading. That won’t get you close to the hole, let alone “in.” You’re not the only one reading, and weeping, on the greens.

Here, you master the fundamentals of a repeatable swing that is dependable on the golf course. You and your Coach will work on your key swing flaws that are holding you back, one at a time. In a GOLFTEC Training Bay, you will master your swing changes that will lead to better contact, greater accuracy and more distance on the golf course.
My Teaching Philosophy No two students are the same, so I teach the basic techniques using each individual’s natural abilities to build their game. I never change someone’s swing. Your swing is like your fingerprint – yours and yours alone. The goal is to take your natural swing and create rhythm and consistency. I build a player’s game around the basic fundamentals (grip, set up, aim, posture, balance). Once the fundamentals are in place, we work on each area of the game from full swing to putting. I have a very relaxed teaching style using lots of positive reinforcement and encouragement to
2) Stroke Length: Place a piece of tape on a yardstick at the 18-inch mark (center). Then, place tape every four inches from this center mark. Address the center mark and make strokes to the first piece of tape on the backstroke and the corresponding piece of tape on the forwardstroke. Incorporate this length with the good rhythm from the metronome drill (see #5). Next, place a ball adjacent to the center mark and make your four-inch backstroke and four-inch throughstroke with good rhythm. Hit several putts, then average the distance they travel. Repeat at different length strokes and soon you’ll have a good understanding of how long a stroke is required in any situation.

Brett emphasises that you need to find out what is the best type of club for your build, body type, and your game. He says that there is no point wasting money on expensive clubs until you know what is the best type for you.
Does it make a difference? Grab a book or magazine and try reading it while tilting it away from your eyes. It’s impossible. The words are blurry, and images on the page narrow toward a vanishing point, like railroad tracks on a long straightaway (above, right photo).
The main point of this drill is to help you hit the ball in the middle of the putter face. If you miss slightly, the ball will roll over the edge of the coin, or miss completely. The more times you hit the ball perfectly square on the face, the more you will see the ball roll over the middle of the coin. Again, repetition is paramount if you want to see fast improvement. Hit the putt again and again until you can consistently beat the drill.
If you’ve got a 50-footer and you try to get it in a three-foot circle around the hole, you miss by three feet and you’ve got six feet left. But if you try and make it from 50 feet and you miss by three, you’ve only got three feet left. It sounds simple, but that’s sort of the idea for putting.
A good putting stroke has few moving parts and is based around a single rhythm or cadence – regardless of the length of putt. That way, you can simply make a longer or shorter stroke to vary length of your putts with accuracy and consistency.

If you’re really struggling, start at two feet and end at 20 feet.

Many golfers struggle to pick the correct club for chip shots. They use too much loft which makes it tougher to make solid contact, brings backspin into play, and makes judging the roll difficult. Or they use too little loft which makes it difficult to land the ball on the green and easy to hit the shot too hard. The goal of a chip shot should be to land the ball just on the green and let it roll to the hole. Rolling a ball provides better distance control than carrying it in the air. The ball should be landed on the green though as it provides the best surface and most consistent bounce. Focus your club selection on the PW, 9, and 8 irons (keep the sand and lob wedges in the bag for shots that require more loft to land the shot on the edge of the green). Using a combination of these 3 clubs for chipping will provide a good balance of height and roll. It will also reduce your choices simplifying the club selection process. So stop throwing away shots around the green. Use the 3 chipping tips the next time you practice or play and you’ll see more up and downs and less frustration with your chip shots.
Learning how to play golf the correct way is key for all beginner golfers to build a solid swing foundation. Once a beginner golfer develops bad habits, it’s much harder to cure and try to unlearn them than it is to get it right from the start.

Like the Callaway set, the ProStaff irons range from a 6-SW with a hybrid and woods making up for the missing lower irons. I was very impressed with the irons. They have a deep center of gravity, which makes it a lot easier to get the ball of the ground and reduces spin on the ball. This is important as high spin rates mean lots of inconsistency.
Learn your trade on the driving range before you head for the course. Each range session should include 50 balls and should last at least 30 minutes with two practice swings for every ball. Practice with purpose.
There’s nothing stopping you from improving your golf game.  Head to the green with these putting drills and wear them out!  Commit at least 1 hour per week to working on these drills you’ll be shooting lower scores in no time.
If you aren’t able to locate a horizontal standard, use the brim of your cap or visor. Better yet, curl your hands around your face, with your fingers above your eyebrows and your palms blocking out your peripheral vision. This creates a pure horizontal directly above your eyes, and it also eliminates a lot of the visual “background noise” that can interfere and confuse your reads.
The instructors at The Golf Learning Center will work with your unique game so you can improve your full swing, short game, golf functional fitness, course, and emotional performance, as well as club fitting. In this video I detail the grip, set up and basic stroke mechanics as well as share a simple drill that will help you to build a strong foundation. Through implementing these suggestions along with a little hard work, you can improve your putting and thus lower your scores.
One of the most important factors in golf the ball position. Don’t forget it is the back of the ball that you are stroking with the putter, and not the centre. I always teach that the back of the ball is in the middle of your stance, or slightly forward of this, if you are using a square-to-square stroke.
AimPoint’s predictive putt technology can calculate any break on any green. It’s powerful stuff, but some users find it difficult to digest. So we developed a quicker— and easier—way to use it, called AimPoint Express. No sooner did we invent this technique than we caught Adam Scott express-reading his putts at the 2014 Honda Classic. (Turns out his coach, Brad Malone, had taken an AimPoint class, and promptly passed the technique along to Scott.) Adam captured the Crowne Plaza Invitational a few months later, then reeled off 11 straight top 16 finishes, including seven top 10s.
Golf is a traditional game, and there are many rules a player needs to know to behave correctly on the golf course. Lessons can include the basics rules of golf and golf etiquette. The teaching pro can inform the beginner about such issues as playing the ball where it lies and conditions when it is appropriate to move the ball; keeping up with the pace of play; preventing distractions on the golf course; and golf cart etiquette, including “cart path only” and “90-degree” rules.

By learning the fundamentals of How To Play Golf, of course. It may not sound exciting or sexy, but don’t knock it till you’ve tried it. The golf swing becomes much simpler when it’s built on a solid base of these four elements:
Many golfers believe that creating lag is a matter of holding a wrist angle and really pulling down, keeping the wrist and forearm tight and just praying you can keep the angle through the downswing.

There are several reasons, so let’s take a quick look at the most important ones. First, we live extremely busy lives in the 21st century. It seems that 24 hours in a day is not enough to do all that we have to do as we try to pack in all of the chores and commitments. We are in a constant rush.
Fees average $50 to $60 for a 30- to 45-minute private lesson. Instructors sometimes offer hour-long sessions for $75 to $90, which is a better overall value. There is usually no cost break for children’s lessons.
One common problem with disc golf putting advice is that it is often vague and lacks focus. Many articles providing disc golf putting tips just list out a load to advice, half of which isn’t even helpful. That’s not the best way to approach putting technique. To help, we’ve structured our disc golf putting advice from start to finish.  We’ll also keep adding more putting tips to this article over time so this page is never outdated.
Tiger Woods’ dramatic chip-in on the 16th hole at at Muirfield Village was undoubtedly the shot that led to his 73rd victory on the PGA Tour, a momentum grabber, an attention getter and a glimpse of the Tiger of old. It was also a shot that was ridiculously difficult by even his standards. So how did he hit the shot that makes mere mortals break into a deep sweat? Here are the steps you need to use to learn the Tiger Flop …

The set also comes with a great stand bag.
One of the first things I do with a new client is to make sure they don’t suffer this malady, which is as common as freckles—and just as threatening if left untreated. Give yourself an “eye exam,” using the depth-perception test above.

I like to see the putter relaxed in your hand – it is necessary to control the putter head, as it can weigh as much as half a kilo. It is important to lock the grip in your hands with the soft thumb pad in both hands, and the forefinger on your left – this will help to stop the putter from twisting off line, plus curling the right hand forefinger underneath the shaft (not down).
Putting Mechanics (25 Minutes) The goal of a good putting stroke is to consistently strike the ball solidly in the direction the putter is aligned with the proper pace. This is the essence of putting and, accordingly, this will be the biggest part of your putting hour. Concentrate on five main areas.
The object is for players to reduce the value of the cards in front of them by either swapping them for lesser value cards or by pairing them up with cards of equal rank and trying to get the lowest score. The highest score loses the game and the lowest score wins the game. A total of 10 games are played.

That’s where this online beginner’s guide comes in. To those who know nothing about golf, our goal is to shepherd you through this uncertainty. What kind of clubs do you need? How do you practice? When do you know that you’re ready for the golf course? The way we see it, the only dumb questions about getting started in golf are the ones you’re afraid to ask, or worse, the ones for which you can’t find an answer. The whole point of this guide is to make sure that last part is no longer a problem. — Sam Weinman

If you shot a free throw with your right hand only, you’d realize you need your left hand as a guide. The same is true on the greens: The left hand is the direction hand, and it’s just as important as the right. Practice putting left-hand-only (right), or have someone hold a club in front of your hands on the target line. Bump the grip with the back of your hand, not your fingers, like Dave Jr. is doing.
Our bodies are wired to see things as level. Your subconscious likes flat. Unfortunately, this internal gyroscope is causing you to mis-aim your putter at address, spoiling your good reads (when you make them).

Improve your putting from long range. Give yourself the opportunity to make short putts inside 5 feet from the hole. Percentages that you’ll make a putt dramatically decrease the farther away you are from the hole. The ladder drill is designed to improve putting from longer distances.
Most irons have relatively narrow soles, which are more difficult to hit than wider sole clubs that have more contact with the ground at impact. The best way to identify if irons have a wider sole is to look at the club cavity. A deep cavity will suggest a wider sole. It will also mean that the weight is distributed to the perimeter of the club head, which will give you a wider sweet spot.
The following Golf Academies consistently receive 4.5-5 star ratings by popular vote and are highly recommended based on the quality of instructors, lessons, game improvement, facilities, amenities and ranges:
2) Safety Zone Drill: On the green, make a semicircle around the back edge of the hole using the length of your putter as a guide and mark the perimeter with a few tees. From different lengths, practice until you can get 10 putts in a row to come to rest either in the hole or inside this semicircular safety zone.
The key to distance control is to roll the ball, not hit it. To do this, take an open stance, your weight slightly favoring your left side and your putter shaft leaning toward the target. The open stance makes it easier to feel the left hand going out and down the target line. The forward lean offsets the 4 degrees of loft I recommend for a putter and helps the ball roll smoothly.

• The stroke: Set-up to the ball. Rotate your head so your eyes track in a straight line to your aiming point and back (not the hole except for straight putts). Make your best stroke. Keep everything still until the putter stops then rotate you head to watch the ball. Hold this position until the ball stops rolling.
Hybrids are one of the best recent innovations golf. Effectively a hybrid combines a fairway wood with a long iron to make a hybrid wood/iron club. Most people find long irons (i.e. #3-#5) really difficult to hit. This is because the loft is relatively shallow and the sole very narrow. The combination of these two factors makes it difficult to get under the ball.

Next up is the correct way to hold the club. Andy says that when they take on a new pupil, whether he has been playing for six months or ten years, the way that he holds the club is the first thing that they both look at in order to ascertain if there are any problems with it. They go into considerable detail about how to hold the club, showing the back of the leading hand facing the direction in which the ball is required to go and referring to how to “close” the hand on to the grip rather than the term ”grip” the club which is the word many people use. In fact, they use the term “hold” the club rather than “grip” as they say that they don’t want you to “grip” the club too tightly. Then they go into more detail about how to use the other hand, showing a “V” shape between the thumb and the grip.

What I’m learning now, in addition to swinging a club correctly, is to hold myself more accountable for my golf game.  Taking online golf lessons is akin to walking a tightrope without a safety net.  There’s nobody around to observe your every swing and make corrections.  In truth, this is more indicative of how golf is actually played – on your own, with nothing but the space between your ears to guide you.  In an interview with pgatour.com, Sean Foley was asked if he envisioned a time when Tiger Woods wouldn’t need a coach.

If you stare at the ball too long at address, it’s easy to get brain-locked and hit a bad putt. To avoid this, I don’t even look at the ball. Try looking at a spot just in front of the ball on your target line and rolling the ball over that spot. Put a tee in the ground in front of the ball when you practice (right). This gets you thinking about the target line instead of the stroke–the opposite of what most golfers do.
I don’t typically leave reviews, but my experience with Frank has been nothing short of excellent! I tried to figure out golf on my own, but could have saved so much time by just taking a few golf lessons with Frank. He makes learning the game fun. Do yourself a favor and call him!
While playing golf you will also encounter trouble shots on a regular basis. These shots have lie conditions that differ from the normal good lie on a flat surface. – Survey the lay of the land and the general terrain before you reach the green. Look for high and low areas and sense the basic slope of the surrounding area. – The lower you can get on the putting surface to view these characteristics, the better. – In choosing your line, first determine the speed, then choose an aiming line. When in doubt, choose a minimum speed with a maximum amount of break.
Putting is a puzzle. Always has been, mostly because almost every golfer on the planet is making it much harder than it needs to be. Do I mean to say you’re doing it wrong? Yes, I do. Think about it. You spend hours using alignment aids and grips to get the putter head to move Read more…
Note that in both cases you’re reading the green from the low side of the putt. Favoring the low side positions your sight lines perpendicular (or closer to perpendicular) to the slope when you crouch, so you look into the hill, not down it.
Recreational golfers are constantly seeking tips on how to improve, and the major golf publications such as Golf Magazine and Golf Digest devote substantial portions of their pages to instructional material of various kinds, often written by top-level instructors. Even television broadcasts of professional golf tournaments often contain short instructional segments, delivered by commentators who are also instructors such as Peter Kostis.
Golf Instruction can be wide ranging, but many great modern day instructors are able to diagnose and prescribe swing frustrations accurately and present a clear fix that encourages the golfer in the discovery of lasting repeatability from the specific ailment that “plagued” them from a sound repeatable swing to play a golf course successfully (varying terms of success as a golfer ) Many modern instructors include the following in their diagnosis 1. visual feedback through video and bio motion analysis 2. personalized golf club fitting for individual body and swing types 3. on-course play under real conditions 4. mental performance development 5. golf specific body conditioning for optimal golf bio-mechanics
Disc golf putting tips can be broken down into a few main categories, and doing so will help you strategize and practice your routine efficiently.  If you’ve already established your putting style and have selected your putter, feel free to skip to the next section.

Fairway woods are really important clubs when you are just starting out in golf as they allow you to get as much distance as possible when hitting off the fairway. The two main fairway woods are a #3 and #5 wood. I recommend you get both, but if you are on a budget then a #3 wood will suffice (just make sure to get two hybrids then – see below).

Doug Hammer is a PGA professional and has experience with golfers of all levels from all over the world. His client list consists of beginners to top ranked amateurs and professional players. His philosophy is simple—there is no perfect swing for everyone. Doug is a student of the game and studies every technique to be able to help every golfer, no matter what they may be working on or learning. In addition to helping grow the game of golf through teaching, Doug is also a Callaway Master Club-fitter, and oversees the Callaway Performance Center at Troon North. It is important to have equipment that fits your game—if you are playing equipment that is not correct for you, you may be able to improve your scores by improving the clubs you play.  Club-fitting is an important part of the improvement process and Doug can help you with any equipment questions you may have or can make recommendations for the best clubs to fit your style of play.
1) Setup And Alignment: With the logo on your golf ball aligned at the proper aiming point, it should be easy to set the putterface to this line. Often, it’s helpful to have a putter with lines or marks to help visualize the alignment. Make sure your arms are hanging freely, that your eyes are over or slightly inside the ball/target line and, most importantly, that your shoulders are square to the target. I use a small mirror to check my alignment and eye position.
The best part about these golf lessons is that no matter what your athletic ability level is, everyone can grip the club properly. Everyone can aim properly. Everyone can stand in a sound setup with the ball in the proper position.

With the help of my sons, Ron and Dave Jr., I’ve developed a philosophy that focuses on this notion but also incorporates basic tips for improving your setup and stroke–the same tips I’ve given major champions like Phil Mickelson and Yani Tseng. Our method might really differ from what you do now, but it’s the most effective way to roll the ball into the hole.
My wife had a couple of starter lessons with Peter earlier in the summer and came back so enthused I decided I had to take up golf too! We booked a course of lessons over a two week period with Peter, who came up with a schedule that covered all areas of the game and gave us an opportunity to play on the course as well as refine our swing on the range, so giving us variety and a great experience of every aspect of the game. Peter was meticulous in his detail of our every move and incredibly attentive and patient. From never having held a club at the beginning of our course I was able to play a round (just!) by the end and the confidence he has given my wife with her game means we have both become a little obsessed! Couldn’t rate Peter highly enough; would strongly recommend his tutoring not just to beginners like ourselves but to anyone who wishes to reassess their game under the courteous and extremely knowledgeable guidance of a real pro. Thanks Peter; can’t wait to come back for more.
I have been teaching for 8 years, and have 10 plus years of tournament experience. My lessons cater to every player, young and old, beginner, advanced or anywhere in between! Online golf lessons are cheap and fast. And if you do a search on Google, the choices are extensive.  Getting started can be summed up in three steps — shoot a video with your mobile phone, upload it to the one of many different websites that offer the service and await feedback from a PGA professional of your choosing.  By contrast, working with a local pro requires finding one nearby, booking their time in advance and driving however long to the course for the sake of making a couple of dozen supervised swings in less than the time it takes to bake a cake — usually, for a premium fee.
Download the V1 golf app, then record your swing using your mobile device. Ask a friend to capture your swing while you’re at the range or course, or use a tripod, stand or carry case if you are practicing by yourself. Visit the online store to download the V1 app and purchase training aids and accessories.
Brett emphasises that you need to find out what is the best type of club for your build, body type, and your game. He says that there is no point wasting money on expensive clubs until you know what is the best type for you.
I think most beginner golfers are concerned most about not embarrassing themselves – which is why they focus on improving their drives and iron play. But as soon as you feel reasonably competent with your full golf swing, I encourage you to spend as much time as possible on your short game.

Also known as the “clock drill”, this exercise requires consistency and focus. Start off by finding some space on the putting green, pick a cup to shoot towards and set up four golf balls around it. The balls should be the same distance from the cup and the goal is to make all four before moving the balls back a foot and trying to sink each one from that distance. If you miss, you have to start over. The drill simulates the pressure you can sometimes feel on greens during a round, and thus help you prepare for it.
The Callaway Men’s Strata 12-Piece Golf Set is the smaller variation of the 18-piece set featured above. Like its big brother, the 12-piece set has all the clubs one needs to start playing golf with, but is slightly cut down in terms of optionality. It doesn’t come with a 5W Fairway Wood and only has one hybrid. To be honest this didn’t put me off this set at all as the 18-piece option could be considered a little over-kill in terms of woods and hybrids. However, for me the main shortfall of the 12-piece set is that the irons don’t come with a sand wedge (i.e. they run from 6-PW). I think this is a significant downside to the set and the reason why I would recommend going with the 18-piece. Then again, you can always buy a sand wedge separately.

Golf instruction is the art of equipping and training golfers to play better golf through improved awareness of swing cause and effects as a result of the actions by their body, the club, and their effect on the golf ball. Most great golfers have a few common elements that make them great including: proper intentionality, swing repeatability to produce an action that fits the golfers intentionality, and a strong level of automaticity for long lasting enjoyment of the game golf. Golf instruction is unique as golf consists of five primary skills: shots from a tee (most notable: driving that uses a driver), full shots from the ground (mostly known as “iron shots”, pitching (or 3/4 shots designed for distance control, chipping (short shots around the green the require less than a full swing), putting (1 club preferably “the putter”) and course strategy or gamesmanship.

Fairway woods can range from a 3 wood to a 7, or even 9 wood. The loft for a 3W is generally between 12 and 17 degrees. Some sets also include a 5-wood with a loft between 18 and 23 degrees. Fairway woods can be hit off the tee and as the name suggests, on the fairway too. Most of the fairway woods have large heads that are quite similar to the driver, but they are shallower and boast a lower sweet spot, pointing towards the bottom of the club. Graphite shafts are also desirable in your fairway woods.

Alignment is one of those 4 pillars. If you don’t align perfectly every time, the only time you’ll hit a good putt is when you get lucky with a mis-hit or your body compensates (like in the full swing, your subconscious tells your body it needs to make compensatory movements for poor alignment). But none of us want to rely on this as this doesn’t allow for consistent improvement. We all need to know we’re consistently aligned to the target and this putting tip will show you how important it is and what you can do to achieve it.

After this, he suggests that you should always warm up before playing golf, even if it is only on the practice range. Although golf is not as physical an activity as some sports, you use a considerable number of muscles so a regular warm up routine is essential. Five or minutes of stretching can help to avoid pulled muscles, or even more serious injuries.
Most people are confused when they see someone with this type of golf swing. They just can’t figure out how they do it no matter how much golf instruction they have taken. If this is you, what you are missing is that the body is telling the arms how fast to come down.
While most us take the greatest satisfaction from hitting a crisp drive that splits the fairway in two, it’s your pitching, chipping and putting that ultimately gets the ball close, and into, the hole.
Putters are used on the green. Most people are familiar with these clubs from playing Putt-Putt. Putters come in all types of shapes and sizes, but the two most common are blades and mallet putters. Putters have a flat face that allows you to strike the ball squarely to give it a straight roll. Its primary purpose it to make the ball roll along the ground into the hole. As a beginner I recommend looking for a putter that has an alignment feature to help you line up your putts. Mallets are also easier to learn on as there is generally more feel in these clubs.
