Recreational golfers are constantly seeking tips on how to improve, and the major golf publications such as Golf Magazine and Golf Digest devote substantial portions of their pages to instructional material of various kinds, often written by top-level instructors. Even television broadcasts of professional golf tournaments often contain short instructional segments, delivered by commentators who are also instructors such as Peter Kostis.
So my time here in Hanoi is coming to an end. Reflecting on all of the wonderful students I have had. Mr Chien I feel has had the most dramatic improvement not only in his swing mechanics but in 6 shared lessons he has improved his handicap by 13 strokes. Well done Mr Chien!! (before, top, after, bottom)
Find a flat spot on the practice green and stick a tee 2-3 away from the cup. Line up that short straight putt and knock it in. Then do it 99 more times. During this drill make sure you’re focusing on form and alignment. Not only is this a great drill to work on technique, but seeing the 100 putts drop in a row will give you the confidence to make more putts during your round.
Beginning at dealer’s left, players take turns drawing single cards from either the stock or discard piles. The drawn card may either be swapped for one of that player’s 6 cards, or discarded. If the card is swapped for one of the face down cards, the card swapped in remains face up. If the card drawn is discarded, the player can then either flip a card or choose to make no move. The round ends when all of a player’s cards are face-up. Remaining players then have one turn to draw a card to improve their hands and then scores are totaled and recorded on a running score sheet.

On the practice green concentrate on good technique and consistency by holing a succession of four-footers. It will give you confidence in hearing the ball rattle into the cup rather than randomly firing long-range putts that never go in and ruin your focus.

You read almost every putt, but if you’re like most players, your routine is guesswork disguised as green-reading. That won’t get you close to the hole, let alone “in.” You’re not the only one reading, and weeping, on the greens.
Some of the world’s best putters play with an open or closed stance – take Jack Nicklaus and Jim Furyk, for example. For me, all you need to align is the putter face, your forearms and shoulders (getting the putter face aligned is the first step). The forearms and shoulders determine the path of the putting stroke, not the lower body. If your shoulders and forearms are pointing to the right of the target line, you’ll push more putts to the right (it’s that simple). There’s no need to worry about the alignment of your feet and lower body (do whatever feels comfortable). When you’re over the ball looking at your spot, start to become conscious of the putter face, forearms and shoulders being square to it.
During our Oct holidy in Portugal we took the opportunity to take a 2 hours Golf lesson with Peter Lester. At this time we never have had a Golf Club im our hands before. We have been so excited by the method how Peter teached us, that we decide to come back and take a one week golf lesson. Immediately we booked a Golf lesson for one week from the 27.12.2014 – 03.01.2015. During this time at the pinhal golf course we took on five days (10am-1 PM)lessons. It was a very intensiv week. We have been 4 people in this group.(we took also 2 friends of us with us). It was a very motivating week and we learned all elements of Golf during this week. Peter was very patient and he guided us step by step to learn about the fastination of Golf. Especially his relax and correct way to explain the technologies and his passion was outstanding. (Before we went to Peter my wife called hereself „anti sport“ person. Now she is in Golf fever). Peter was looking to every individual and therefore after this week we did a big step forward. Beside technics, Peter also explained about the etiquette and the main important rules. At the end oft he week we did some exercises and we passed successful our space mature.
Learning to play golf does two main things: it gets us out into the fresh air when we have been stuck in an office all week, and it requires a lot of concentration. This second point is probably the main one. When you have to concentrate so hard on the shot that you are about to take at that moment, all of your worries disappear. They have to, because your mind is suddenly 100% on the shot, so everything else vanishes. There is no room left for fears, worries, and frustrations, so golf gives you mental relaxation and peace of mind.
Don’t worry – we’ve got you covered. Our beginner section includes tips on proper manners and more, such as how to dress on the course, how to keep score, and even how to save money playing this sometimes expensive game.
Touch and Feel The problem with most players is that they focus too much on mechanics and contact and not enough on how much energy is needed to produce the correct distance. That’s putting touch. If yours is a little off, add the following three drills to your putting practice regimen.
Some top instructors who work with professional golfers have become quite well known in their own right over the years, including Harvey Penick, Jack Grout, Dick Harmon, David Leadbetter, Butch Harmon, Hank Haney, Chip Thomson, Sean Foley, Quentin Patterson and Mike Bennett and Andy Plummer. Some of the teachers maintain teaching facilities or schools where they or their disciples use their methods or systems. A few instructors focus solely on a particular aspect of the sport, such as Dave Pelz with the short game. Some famous golfers have been tightly bound with their instructor, such as Jack Nicklaus with Jack Grout, while in other cases golfers have made high-profile switches from one instructor to another, such as Tiger Woods moving from Butch Harmon to various other instructors.

As I have already covered in the section on drivers above, the best drivers have a large head size. Ranging from 440-460cc. I recommend you look for a driver with a head size greater than 440 cc. This will maximize the sweet spot and provide loads of forgiveness on mishits.

I’m a big proponent of practising from inside 10 feet because then you’re going to make a lot of putts and when you see the ball going in constantly, it breeds confidence like nothing else. You need to practise that and give yourself good momentum going into a round.
2. “Walk” off the distance with your stroke. From the side of the putt, point your putter at the ball, then pass it over an imaginary line running from the ball to the cup at the same speed you want the putt to roll (above). Moving your putterhead from the ball to the hole at the proper speed when you’re calculating distance helps your brain move your arms and putter with the correct amount of energy when you putt the ball for real. Yes, you can do this by simply scanning your eyes over the line, but studies prove that using your eyes and hands in tandem enhances brain performance much more than using only your eyes.

There’s no question that missing putts is the easiest way to put a bloated number on the scorecard. A great drive and a fantastic approach shot can be nullified by a couple of missed putts, and the next thing you know, you are putting a bogey or worse instead of a birdie or par. Sure, it’s frustrating, but like anything, to get better you have to practice.
We can’t promise we’ll make your putting the object of such flowery praise, or that we’ll make you into the next Ben Crenshaw or Jack Nicklaus. But here are 10 tips from various golf experts on how to improve your skills.
I can’t believe how many treasures are in these videos! Probably have watched every one at least ten times but always learn something new. This video is huge because it really explains the “feeling” of the club almost starting the pivot behind the right leg and the club head getting out where is should be super early.
Golf Lessons with Derek Hooper – I have always felt that putting is the easiest part of the game. It requires little strength, endurance, flexibility or speed and thus with some practice every player can become a proficient putter. Despite this many players still find it difficult to make as many putts as they would like and end up wasting too many strokes on the greens.

By age 12, she was a junior-golf phenomenon, an Alameda County kid whose flair for golf promised a pink (as in healthy) future. Pink, as it turns out, became Paula Creamer’s on-course color—she was draped in it for her 2010 U.S. Open Win—but her fashion sense was shaped at her childhood home.
