The instructors at The Golf Learning Center will work with your unique game so you can improve your full swing, short game, golf functional fitness, course, and emotional performance, as well as club fitting. Each of these areas are the building blocks of a great golf game, but the mortar is how you practice after you leave The Golf Learning Center. Our instructors will send follow-up material and provide guidance on how to most effectively practice the game.
Making the Choice: After these steps, you should be ready to make your choice. It’s important that you choose an instructor whose personality meshes with yours. Going to a teacher you don’t like will keep you from learning. It’s important that an instructor’s goals match yours, and that your commitment matches your goals. Once you’ve made your choice, throw yourself into it – and watch your scores improve.
Celebrate and discover memorable moments with friends, family, and co-workers. We’ll help you arrange a golf party for any special occasion. Choose a golf theme, setup fun competitions, or add a golf teaching professional to make your party a hit. Interview the Candidates: Yes, you really can interview golf instructors before you commit to lessons. Remember – it’s your business they want and need. Ask your candidates about their teaching background and experience. Do they use video? Do lessons include on-course teaching? What is their teaching philosophy? This process should give you a good idea of how your personality will match up with theirs, too.

The Callaway Men’s Strata 12-Piece Golf Set is the smaller variation of the 18-piece set featured above. Like its big brother, the 12-piece set has all the clubs one needs to start playing golf with, but is slightly cut down in terms of optionality. It doesn’t come with a 5W Fairway Wood and only has one hybrid. To be honest this didn’t put me off this set at all as the 18-piece option could be considered a little over-kill in terms of woods and hybrids. However, for me the main shortfall of the 12-piece set is that the irons don’t come with a sand wedge (i.e. they run from 6-PW). I think this is a significant downside to the set and the reason why I would recommend going with the 18-piece. Then again, you can always buy a sand wedge separately.
5. Our last of our golf putting tips is to recognize your actual target.  On lengthier putts, concentrate on the target, which isn’t inevitably the hole.  Your target could be two inches off to the right of the hole, should you anticipate the break of the green being two inches.  At the outset decide on the break, which might be misleading.  Check the overall shape of the green when you come close to it from your fairway.  If the general contour is inclined in the direction of water, as many do for correct water drainage, that will factor into the break in the green that you study the green.  Other factors that could influence break are speed of the greens (faster greens generally will break greater), how the grass lies following cutting, and powerful wind.

There’s another option that’s even cheaper. Check with any local colleges. Many community colleges and universities offer continuing education courses, and golf is a popular course in such programs. Many school districts also offer continuing or adult education programs, and taking golf lessons through this method can reduce your costs considerably.
One of the most important factors in golf is the ball position. Don’t forget it is the back of the ball that you are stroking with the putter, and not the centre. I always teach that the back of the ball is in the middle of your stance, or slightly forward of this, if you are using a square-to-square stroke.
Do me a favor and sign your name on a piece of paper. See how quick and easy that was? Now try to slowly duplicate that signature. Not so easy. The reason is, you’re thinking about it and not tapping into your subconscious, the way you did when you signed the first time. Putting is no different. The best putters see their target line and then roll the on that line, just like you saw the paper and then signed it. The lesson is, keep it natural, and don’t let yourself get bogged down by anything.
If you watch your playing partners or pros on TV, see what happens. First the back stroke, then the through the ball stroke and then their finish. Yes – what about the finish? Normally the club head recoils. Try having a practice putting stroke where the finish is held still. This will give you a different feel – more positive – I’m in control!!
Now that I have tested them I can confirm that they don’t disappoint. Like the 2015 version, the 2017 upgrade includes all the same clubs (i.e. driver, #3 fairway wood, a hybrid, irons from 5-PW and a putter), but the design and technology of the clubs has been improved. They now have larger sweet spots to their predecessor and the irons have a wider sole.

Best Instructional Books on Putting: Plenty of golf instructors have written books about the art and science of putting. Which of those books are the best? Here are nine picks for ones you can’t go wrong with.
By learning the fundamentals of How To Play Golf, of course. It may not sound exciting or sexy, but don’t knock it till you’ve tried it. The golf swing becomes much simpler when it’s built on a solid base of these four elements:
 – Now rest the left hand forefinger over the fingers on your right hand, neither hand is dominant and the shoulders are now near square to your hips and feet when you are in a putting position – aren’t they?
Wedges are really important clubs in your bag as they are used to get the ball near the pin when you are not far away from the green (i.e. from about 100 yards in). There are many different types of wedges ranging from high 40 degree pitching wedges (PW) to sand wedges (SW) and even 60 degree lob wedges. The high loft in wedges allow one to get under the ball and launch it really high. This makes it easier to stop the ball near the pin and also backspin the ball.
If you’re like the majority who take this depth-perception test, you ended up pointing to a spot on the ground (or green) well short of the real target, which floods your motor systems with an improper distance to react to. You putt to an illusion instead of the hole. Don’t panic—this is a minor ocular flaw. Yet the effects can wreak havoc on your reads and your score. I’ve developed some quick, easy ways to offset the tricks your beautiful blues can, and will, play on you.

I have discovered the common moves that all top professionals make….that allows them to stay on top of their games. Provide insight on the cause and effect relationships of the golf swing, while sharing the compatibilities that must be present for consistent ball striking.
Comfort and alignment are crucial but the shoulders must be kept square and aligned to the direction of the line on which you want the ball to roll. Try left hand below right, (if you’re a right handed player – and like Jim Furyk or Padraig Harrington); it helps to keep the shoulders square at impact. You may have to adjust to a shorter-shafted putter to get the full value of the stroke.
The fact that setting up correctly can seem so obvious and even a little mundane, is probably why many amateur golfers completely overlook it. But if you fail to check your setup position on a regular basis (every time you practice isn’t a bad idea) it’s so easy to adopt bad habits.

The short game is generally defined as the shots you hit from within 100 yards to the pin, more or less. It is also often referred to as the scoring game, as shots made here have the greatest impact on your final score. This section explores golf tips for every component of the short game: pitching, chipping, bunkers, and putting.

GOLFTEC’s Player Performance Center, accessible from any device, is the online portal where you can review your lessons, drills and notes created by your Coach to extend your improvement beyond the Training Center. It helps you to retain the key elements of your swing that you and your coach are working on, for faster improvement.
4) Arm Swing:_Ê In a good putting stroke, the arms should move freely from the shoulders and swing so that there’s no wrist activity. A good tool to check your arm swing is to place a golf tee in the end of your grip. With a good motion, the golf tee, your arms and the putterhead will move together to the target. Trouble occurs if the putterhead moves forward as the golf tee moves away from the target.
His website is an interesting collection of articles and podcasts that any golfer who is looking to improve should check out. Everything is based in research, and they’ve done a great job aggregating some of the latest information relevant to players who are looking for online golf instruction.
For example, on a left-to-righter, the natural tendency is to lean with the slope as you settle into your address position, toward your toes, until your eyes are level with the tilt of the green. You do it without even thinking. But that makes your eyes shift outside the ball, causing you to aim left of your chosen line. The opposite happens on right-to-left putts; you lean toward your heels, shifting your eyes inside the ball, and you aim too far to the right. Hey, it’s just our natural design, but it’s a huge putting problem, compounded by the fact that your shoes feature heel wedges that slope as much as two degrees—an added tilt that further distorts your feel for break at address.

For most golfers, finding time to practice putting is difficult. In fact, it’s no easy task to find time to improve in any area of the game. Therefore, it’s essential that players not only create practice opportunities whenever they can, but also budget practice time to maximize effectiveness and create better habits.

Many golfers struggle to pick the correct club for chip shots. They use too much loft which makes it tougher to make solid contact, brings backspin into play, and makes judging the roll difficult. Or they use too little loft which makes it difficult to land the ball on the green and easy to hit the shot too hard. The goal of a chip shot should be to land the ball just on the green and let it roll to the hole. Rolling a ball provides better distance control than carrying it in the air. The ball should be landed on the green though as it provides the best surface and most consistent bounce. Focus your club selection on the PW, 9, and 8 irons (keep the sand and lob wedges in the bag for shots that require more loft to land the shot on the edge of the green). Using a combination of these 3 clubs for chipping will provide a good balance of height and roll. It will also reduce your choices simplifying the club selection process. So stop throwing away shots around the green. Use the 3 chipping tips the next time you practice or play and you’ll see more up and downs and less frustration with your chip shots.

Set a manilla folder on the practice green 6-10 feet away from you on a level surface.  Roll putts and try to have them stop on the folder.  The fast surface of the folder is difficult to hold, making you have to focus on the speed of your putt.  This drill really comes in handy on the slippery short ones.

In this golf lesson I show you how to get that smooth, powerful swing everyone marvels at. You know the one. It’s that swing that looks like the person is barely swinging yet they hit it a mile and they seem to hit every fairway. Although it looks simple it does take a little effort and the right instruction.
Good putters have a great control of distance and can adjust easily to different speed greens. There must be both a lot of feel drills in your practice and an emphasis on distance control when you play.
Golfing great Ben Hogan once described putting as “merely rolling the ball over the surface of the green by striking it with a gentle but firm blow” [source: Hogan]. Sounds easy, doesn’t it? Of course, if it were easy, a lot more of us would be raking in big bucks on the PGA tour. It’s cool to be able to step up to the tee and blast the ball down the fairway, but let’s face it, putting is what separates truly great golfers from good ones. That’s because putting is one of the trickiest skills of any sport — a delicate mixture of muscle control and mental focus. When a skilled putter scrutinizes a 10-foot (3-meter) distance to the cup, pauses and then applies precisely the right amount of force to sink the shot, that triumph of mind over matter is a truly inspiring sight to behold.
Ever had to play from wet and compact sand only to thin the ball through the side of the green and into a worse postion than when you started? This video lesson will prevent that from ever happening again…
You’ll simply pick up the game much more quickly. Golf is not easy to master, and if you want to get good at it, you’ll show improvement much more quickly if you are taught the correct way to play from the get-go.

Unfortunately, many new golfers give up in frustration after a just few practice sessions or a couple of casual rounds. Those who make it through the initial stages, however, soon find that improvement comes in leaps and bounds. Next thing you know, they’re hooked for life.
We get it. Golf can seem terribly complicated to the uninitiated. So many rules, so many different kinds of clubs. And then there’s the lingo: birdies, bogeys, bump-and-runs. At Golf Digest, this may be the language we speak every day, but we also know it’s a language that can scare prospective golfers off before they ever pick up a club.

Finally, every putt is a straight putt and you must strike the ball with a smooth acceleration so that you control the speed of the ball. Many amateurs either hit the ball with a short backswing and a hurried hit, or a long backswing with deceleration, both of which will cause the ball to veer off course.

Students ask all the time if they should take a practice swing or not. In response, I ask if they do in fact partake in this all important facet of the game. The answer usually comes back “sometimes.” That’s like admitting we would “sometimes” like to hit a good shot.

The Internet is awash in golf instruction, much more than any sane person can digest. This has got to be tough on the golf magazines. They are the biggest traditional purveyors of golf tips, after teaching pros and that well-meaning guy at your club you try never to be paired with. But these days there are so many tips, lessons and swing analyses available online—most of them free, in high-def and searchable by topic—that waiting for a handful printed on paper to arrive in your mailbox each month seems quaint. Likewise buying an…

 – In your normal stance, try stroking through the ball, not at it. Bearing in mind that the ball only rolls on about a half inch wide band, watch this until it comes to a stop. Did it stay upright longer? I think so!
The R&A and USGA published a draft in March 2017. This draft has been in hearing, and they are right now working on finalizing the Rules. The new Rules book is expected to be published in March 2018. The Handbook and the “Players Edition” will be published later in 2018.
AimPoint’s predictive putt technology can calculate any break on any green. It’s powerful stuff, but some users find it difficult to digest. So we developed a quicker— and easier—way to use it, AimPoint Express. No sooner did we invent this technique than we caught Adam Scott express-reading his putts at the 2014 Honda Classic. (Turns out his coach, Brad Malone, had taken an AimPoint class, and promptly passed the technique along to Scott.) Adam captured the Crowne Plaza Invitational a few months later, then reeled off 11 straight top 16 finishes, including seven top 10s.
Most players should spend the majority of their time on the shorter putts (ten feet and in), but that doesn’t mean they should disregard the long putts. Putts from 20 feet and beyond create major problems for many players. These lengthy attempts often result in three or even four-putts that can kill someone’s score and ruin their confidence. That’s why the goal with this drill, besides trying to actually drain the putt, is to put the ball within a three-foot range for a makeable two-putt. If you can consistently two-putt from 20 feet and further, while occasionally making one, you will be able to shave several strokes off your score right away.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at the best ways to learn golf. Obviously there is nothing to beat physical practice out on the course with an instructor who has been there and done that, but it is not possible to spend as much time as you might like doing that. Furthermore, a golf pro costs money, which of itself may be a restriction.
You don’t really think about how a ball is going to go into the hoop if you’re playing basketball, or a pass in football. You just think about delivering the ball to that person. We tend to over-think putting.
What actually makes choosing a set of golf clubs hard is the fact that there are just so many types and designs of golf clubs and all have different features which you have to consider before making that final decision. I hope the information and recommendations above have helped you make an informed decision. Below I have set out a few more considerations to take into account when choosing your beginner or intermediate level golf clubs.
All I read on a putt are the last few feet and how it’s going to go into the hole. I then just let my brain sort of figure out the rest. I don’t read it too closely. I don’t want to overdo the read, or try too hard if that makes sense. You can get the old saying ‘paralysis by analysis’.
Beginning players can start lesson in several ways, but most do so in either a group or individual setting, covering the five primary skills of golf as noted above golf swing. Golf is an asymmetrical exercise that can break body balances, requiring also adequate exercises to keep the balance in muscles.[1] Experienced recreational players often return for instruction, either to fix a specific problem they are encountering or to improve their game. Reconstruction of a golf swing to reach a high level of play often involves series of lessons over an extended period of time. Junior golfers often begin receiving instruction by age 10 or younger, and often retain private teachers even when coached on a high school golf team.
Our ever-expanding library of free golf videos cover all aspects of the swing. The PGA Teaching Pros tackle every topic imaginable & offer specific drills and stretches so you can practice at home or on the range. Confidence: (10 Minutes) The best putters in the world have the ability to read greens and judge distance correctly. They also have solid alignment routines and fundamentally sound putting mechanics. Their rhythm is flawless and consistent. But these things wouldn’t make them great putters unless they got used to making putts and getting the sensory feedback of seeing and hearing the ball dive into the hole. There’s only one way to get this confidence: Make more putts.

For putting practice, I recommend the following routine, which places an emphasis on the most important aspects of becoming a good putter. This practice schedule is simple to follow and doesn’t require a lot of time (an hour to be exact). So the next time you face difficult, lightning-fast greens, such as those featured here on Kiawah Island, you’ll be prepared to hole more putts and post your best scores ever.

No, Henrik Stenson isn’t playing peekaboo above. Many Tour players use their hands and cap to see a putt’s true slope; it helps give them a clear, clutter-free view of the line. For best results, drop the brim of your cap or your fingers to the back edge of the cup, to block your view of the green beyond the hole. Ignore anything past the cup. Often, the green’s apron or the lips of nearby bunkers will tilt in a different direction than the ground you stand on. Don’t let this “noise” distract you from your read.

The repetition of the drill also helps with those short putts that infuriating when missed. Sinking four balls in a row from different particular distances will get you comfortable with those distances,  and will increase your confidence when facing those putts on the course. When using this drill, remember to start from a distance where you frequently miss putts on the course. Beginners will want to start closer in, while better putters should start further back.  Begin the drill from a distance where you are less comfortable and keep practicing until you are able to make all four putts.

Good green-readers “work off horizontal.” This term means that they look for a flat line in the background, then compare how much the green around them tilts in comparison. Even on severely undulating greens, horizontal lines are easy to spot. Look for:
Golf instruction may be augmented by training aids such as specially weighting or jointed clubs, putting cups for practice on the den room carpet, mini practice tees with feedback for use in garages, et cetera. Some training aids are sold via television infomercials and the more peculiar varieties were satirized in the 1996 film Tin Cup.
Now the reason I like to do my practice swings before I find my spot, is because if I did them after, I could lose sight of my spot and have to start over, which would disrupt the fluidity of the process.
“Warren is an absolutely amazing instructor. He is extremely generous with his time and very patient. You can really tell that he teaches because he loves the game and this passion is palpable in every lesson. I started working with Warren because I wanted to learn how to play socially with coworkers and after 12 lessons, he was able to give me a very good foundation on forehands, backhands, and serving. I definitely feel confident enough to play with my friends now and plan on taking more lessons so I can learn how to compete even better!”
Over the past 22 years, our Director of Instruction has developed a unique approach to teaching and learning golf that is based on finding each individual student’s best way of playing the game. Whether you’re a beginner or tour player, your experience will be fun and productive.
The best beginner golf clubs have larger club faces, which makes it easy to hit the the ball and provides more forgiveness for mishits (i.e. when one strikes the ball on the toe or heel of the club). In terms of irons, beginner sets should have a decent offset and a wide sole. This makes it easier to get under the ball and launch it for a higher trajectory.
Our skills class uses a variety of drills to help intermediate to advance golfers make meaningful advancements to their overall game. This energetic, 60-minute class will help you achieve consistent ball flight by focusing on proper swing mechanics and technique.
Ryan is one of the best follows on Twitter, and anyone who knows him is aware he is not afraid to speak his mind. He also happens to know a thing or two about the golf swing, and how to improve a golfer of any level. You can check out his website where he is offering online lessons or his YouTube and Vimeo channels where he is beginning to post regular nuggets of info.
As you rest the putter on the ground, position your hands so that the grip of the putter points towards your left hip, just left of your belt buckle (for the right-handed golfer). Your hands should be slightly ahead of the golf ball.
My favorite moment when I teach golf is watching a player ‘get it’.  They turn the instruction into action and all of a sudden they hit the ball better than they ever have before.  The swing looks different, the impact of the club on the ball sounds different and the ball flight is certainly different. The sense of pride and satisfaction on the player’s face is a wonderful moment to witness.

In this golf lesson I show you how to get that smooth, powerful swing everyone marvels at. You know the one. It’s that swing that looks like the person is barely swinging yet they hit it a mile and they seem to hit every fairway. Although it looks simple it does take a little effort and the right instruction.
Few things in golf are more frustrating that discovering you ball is plugged in a bunker. In this video, Justin Rose explains a different approach to the traditional method of playing a plugged bunker shot.
Beginner sets also use shafts that are a little shorter in length as this makes it easier to control the club. A shorter shaft length however, does mean less distance. But as a beginner, consistency is more important.
We can’t promise we’ll make your putting the object of such flowery praise, or that we’ll make you into the next Ben Crenshaw or Jack Nicklaus. But here are 10 tips from various golf experts on how to improve your skills.
However, how do you know which are the best golf clubs for you? There are golf clubs with steel shafts and golf clubs with graphite shafts (much more expensive, but lighter in weight). There are big headed golf clubs, cavity back golf clubs, and many more.
After this, he suggests that you should always warm up before playing golf, even if it is only on the practice range. Although golf is not as physical an activity as some sports, you use a considerable number of muscles so a regular warm up routine is essential. Five or ten minutes of stretching can help to avoid pulled muscles, or even more serious injuries.

My golf methods get proven results and they work no matter what your age or handicap. For example, after starting golf lessons with me, Alex used the methods I taught him to win back to back Tournaments on the Golf Channel Amateur Tour. See photo below:
Most irons have relatively narrow soles, which are more difficult to hit than wider sole clubs that have more contact with the ground at impact. The best way to identify if irons have a wider sole is to look at the club cavity. A deep cavity will suggest a wider sole. It will also mean that the weight is distributed to the perimeter of the club head, which will give you a wider sweet spot.

Hello, my name is Adam and I have been in love with the game of golf since I was 5 years old. I want share my love of this beautiful game through helping people to play better. That’s what we are all after isn’t it?!? I carry a USGA handicap of 2.5 and have been playing competitively since middle school. I have been a caddy at Merion, Aronimink and many other of the biggest clubs in the country for 13 year. Golf is my life. I am on the course every day, and I know it inside and out. I’d love to meet you, and help you play better than you ever have before!
Golf instruction is no guarantee of success or improved play in the game. Bad mechanics can be deeply ingrained in a subject’s swing, and psychological factors can also hinder progress. The 2009 Golf Channel program The Haney Project: Charles Barkley showcased some of these issues, as Hank Haney attempted to fix former NBA great Charles Barkley’s infamously bad swing.[2]
Finish your hour by making as many short putts as you can in a row. My personal best is 56, but set yourself a goal of, say, 10 or 15. Make them short, two or three feet. Place them on different angles to the hole and treat each putt as if it was for a big tournament win. Use your imagination and envision yourself sinking a three-footer to beat Tiger in a sudden-death playoff. Dream a little and build a better mental outlook on your putting.
Fees average $50 to $60 for a 30- to 45-minute private lesson. Instructors sometimes offer hour-long sessions for $75 to $90, which is a better overall value. There is usually no cost break for children’s lessons.
That’s where putting tips come in. Below you’ll find putting tips geared to both beginners and more experienced golfers. Instructional articles and videos whose aim is to help you make more putts, either through developing the basics or by suggesting practice drills that can help.

Many people come to golf with different goals. Some people are just tickled pink with the game and can’t get enough of it. The golf bug in these people has really bitten and they are clearly going to become regular golfers as their game improves. Others are much more casual about their golfing aspirations and just want to be able to hit it around the course a few times a year. Depending on where you find yourself on the spectrum of these two extremes will inform how much you want to invest in your starter clubs. The more enthusiastic you are the more you might want to invest in your clubs. Fortunately all the starter golf sets above are very affordable and will serve you well as your progress from a beginner to an intermediate golfer.
Sixty-five percent of golfers under-read the break on a typical putt, according to a Golf Magazine–sponsored study conducted at the Pinehurst Golf Academy. All of these flawed reads add up to lots of lost strokes, even with perfect putting technique. In our study, we assessed the green-reading skill of 72 golfers just like you. Initially, our research team simply sought to determine the ideal position from which to accurately detect slope (behind the hole, behind the ball, etc.), but results showed view position to be meaningless to good green-reading. Our study subjects misread everything, no matter where they stood or crouched. Some 25 years ago, Dave Pelz told everyday players to triple the amount of break they saw, and that’s as true now as it was then.
“Jared is by far the best teacher I have had the opportunity to learn from. He very passionate, fun and very knowledgeable. I am in my sixties, and always wanted to learn to play. My goal is to influence people to love golf as much as I do. I do this by teaching people how to play golf at a higher level which makes the game a whole lot more enjoyable and fun! First in Ali’s beginner golf swing three-step drill, she teaches you how to get used to pulling the club over your shoulder during the backswing and follow-through, bending your right arm at the start and your left at the finish. Next in the beginner golf swing drill, you’ll learn how to double up for success. Ali shows you how to use two clubs to further develop a proper swing plane, being sure to keep the clubs parallel and never let them touch.
If you stare at the ball too long at address, it’s easy to get brain-locked and hit a bad putt. To avoid this, I don’t even look at the ball. Try looking at a spot just in front of the ball on your target line and rolling the ball over that spot. Put a tee in the ground in front of the ball when you practice (right). This gets you thinking about the target line instead of the stroke–the opposite of what most golfers do.
Alignment is one of those 4 pillars. If you don’t align perfectly every time, the only time you’ll hit a good putt is when you get lucky with a mis-hit or your body compensates (like in the full swing, your subconscious tells your body it needs to make compensatory movements for poor alignment). But none of us want to rely on this as this doesn’t allow for consistent improvement. We all need to know we’re consistently aligned to the target and this putting tip will show you how important it is and what you can do to achieve it.
Before you start bombing them down the fairway, there are some fundamental golf tips that all beginner golfers should know. This section of How To Play Golf beginner golf tips and lessons, lays out the basics from the initial correct addressing of the golf ball all the way to the final follow through.
A lot of golfers have putters that are too long for them. Your hands and arms should hang down in a relaxed, neutral position… so grip the putter where they fall – even if it means gripping right at the bottom of the grip or even getting your putter shortened.
Golf training products generally fall into 3 categories – books, videos, or physical training aid. Each format has its inherent strengths and weaknesses. Books are generally the least expensive, but obviously can’t demonstrate motion as well as video. Training aids have the ability to interact directly with YOUR swing, but generally they can only address 1 aspect of the swing. Video does a great job showing the motions of the swing and can be comprehensive, but is generally more expensive.
One tool used by teaching pros to analyze a new golfer’s swing is videotape. Showing the beginner exactly what he is doing wrong can be an effective method in correcting swing faults. The pro can also offer drills to the student for specific purposes. For example, to encourage a complete shoulder turn, the pro may suggest a drill visualizing a vertical line above the ball. When making the backswing, the golfer can strive to have his left shoulder pass the line to the right, and have his right shoulder pass the line to the left on the downswing and follow through.
I met with Adam before the 2014 Masters to help refine his technique, which involves reading putts with your feet, not your eyes, and holding up your fingers to pinpoint the correct aim line. Obviously, he’s a quick learner. In 2013, Adam ranked 103rd in Strokes Gained Putting. Last year he was 55th. Expect him to keep trending upward in 2015.
I believe that every golfer has their own individual swing type. You cannot categorize everyone into the same mechanics that a lot of Golf Professionals like to do. I enjoy using a variety of methods to figure out the right swing for my students.
In this video I detail the grip, set up and basic stroke mechanics as well as share a simple drill that will help you to build a strong foundation. Through implementing these suggestions along with a little hard work, you can your putting and thus lower your scores.

I particularly like the Strata set as the drivers are very good. Callaway are known for their drivers and with the Strata set they don’t disappoint. The Driver, 3W and 5W are all made from titanium and have huge sweet spots – it is seriously difficult to mishit them.
I have been teaching for 8 years, and have 10 plus years of tournament experience. My lessons cater to every player, young and old, beginner, advanced or anywhere in between! I will teach you based off of your own body mechanics, and not some generic swing thoughts, because everyone is built differently.
New golfers can start out by taking group lessons at first. Group lessons are less expensive than private lessons, and beginners can learn the basic grip, setup and swing in a group setting. Some people find it comfortable and motivating to learn with others of a similar level. As an added bonus, group lessons can introduce you to other golfers who might become your golfing partners when you are ready to try out your newly learned golf skills on the course.
If you can’t afford to take an in person lesson with your local golf professional then you may want to consider getting some online golf lessons. Whilst seeing your local golf professional can be beneficial they may not always understand your golf swing and the best ways to improve it.
As an optometrist and sports-vision specialist, I know that’s not the case. Many players I work with are “depth-deficient,” perceiving the location of the hole as closer than it is. In some cases, their perceptual error is 25 percent—that means that a 25-footer looks like it only needs to travel 20 feet. Those five feet of misjudgment cost you.

I don’t think most golfers appreciate just how many shots they are throwing away with their putter. If you want to better your scores on the golf course and lower your handicap as quickly as possible – improve your putting.
Pro tip: For at least 10% of your practice, putt with just one ball and treat it like you would on the course.  Mark the ball, read the putt, and go through your routine before rolling it.  It will help you find the rhythm that you will use when you’re actually on the course.
